”International Yoga Day” programme will be celebrated while adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines – AYUSH Minister

This programme will be organised from 7 am at 1,100 identified places in the state- Sh. Anil Vij

Chandigarh, June 11 – Haryana AYUSH Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that on June 21, “International Yoga Day” programme will be celebrated while adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines and this time the “International Yoga Day” programme will be held at 50 identified places in each district i.e. at 1100 identified places in the state from 7 am onwards.

Sh. Vij was presiding over a meeting of senior officers of various Departments of the State Government here today with regard to the International Yoga Day. He said that the concerned Deputy Commissioner would be the nodal officer to organise this programme in each district so that the programme could be celebrated with the involvement of officers of all departments concerned. While directing the officers, he said that various institutions should also be involved in this programme so that it is organized efficiently.

In the meeting, the AYUSH Minister directed the Chairman of Haryana Yog Aayog to identify 1,100 places in the state so as to organize the programme. He elaborated that trainers, yoga-related CDs and LED screen should be made available at each identified place. Besides this, the people participating in the event should be provided with T-shirts, yoga mats along with refreshments.

Giving clear instructions to the officers, Sh. Vij said that special care should be taken to ensure social distancing during the programme to prevent the spread of corona virus. Apart from this, he said that ministers, MPs and MLAs of the Central and State Governments will also participate in this programme. He said to the officers that yoga training shall be imparted to the participants three days i.e. from June 18 to 20 prior to the International Yoga Day, at the identified places.

During the meeting, he said that Yoga has been recognized at the international level and this day is celebrated with enthusiasm every year. Talking about the International Yoga Day celebrated earlier, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah have also participated in the International Yoga Day programme organised by Haryana, which is a matter of pride for the state. But today the circumstances have changed due to Covid-19, however, “International Yoga Day” will still be celebrated while adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines.

In the meeting, Chairman, Haryana Yog Aayog, Dr. Jaideep Arya, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Mr. S.N. Roy, Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. A.K. Singh, Director General of Rural Development Department, Sh. Vikas Yadav, Director of Secondary Education Department, Sh. J. Ganesan, Director of Elementary Education Department, Sh. Anshaj Singh and Director of AYUSH Department Sh. Sujan Singh and senior officers of other departments were present.
