Haryana first state in the country to set up Skill Development University of the country in the name of Shri Vishwakarma

Chandigarh, October 3– To ensure that the youth of the state get jobs according to their skills, Haryana has the distinction of becoming the first state in the country to set up Skill Development University of the country in the name of Shri Vishwakarma.

Giving details in this regard, an official spokesperson said that the University is not only offering diploma, degree and postgraduate courses in more than 35 courses, but is also collaborating with more than 150 industries in education and skill development while laying emphasis on innovation.

He said that the University has organized the first Vishwakarma National Skill Excellence Award distribution ceremony and awarded the National Skill Excellence Award to seven individuals and institutions.

The spokesperson said that a Skill Development Agency has been constituted in every district, whose first meeting was held today through video conferencing by Additional Chief Secretary, Skill Development & Industrial Training Development, Mr. Devender Singh.

In the meeting, Mr.  Devender Singh discussed the key points of the District Skill Development Agencies, in which it is mandatory for the agency to hold one meeting every quarter, only genuine and needy youth will be selected through this agency. Furthermore, it is mandatory for the agency to organize an employment fair every month. Each member of the agency is required to inspect the training centres running in the district twice, and the report will have to be submitted by the member to the Chairman of the Agency i.e. the District Deputy Commissioner. The agency can take necessary action against the concerned if an activity is not found to be in accordance with the standards.

The spokesperson said that the Director of Haryana Skill Development Mission and Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Mr. Raj Nehru, thanked all who were present, saying that in the year 2015, Haryana Skill Development Mission was formed with the objective of imparting skill training to the youth of state which will further provide them employment opportunities and make them self reliant. Chief Skill Officer Dr. Deepak Sharma and Joint Director Mr. Ambika Patial were also present in the meeting.
