2117 cases disposed in National Lok Adalat

On the instructions of Mr. Justice Ajay Tewari, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalat was organized today under able guidance of R.S. Rai, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar.
In this National Lok Adalat, 15 benches were constituted at District Headquarter which were presided over by Sandeep Kumar Singla, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Parminder Singh Grewal, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Avtar Singh Barda, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Ms. ShikhaGoel, Additional District & Sessions Judge; G.S. Sekhon, Civil Judge (Junior Division); Ms. PamelpreetGrewalKahal, Chief Judicial Magistrate; Ms. RuchiSwapan Sharma, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division); Sh. Jagjeet Singh, Civil Judge (Junior Division); Sh. Mukesh Kumar Singla, Civil Judge (Junior Division);Sh. Devnoor Singh, Civil Judge (Junior Division);Sh. RavteshInderjit Singh, Civil Judge (Junior Division); Ms. Papneet, Civil Judge (Junior Division); Ms. KhyatiGoyal, Civil Judge (Junior Division); Sh. A.S. Narang, Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS) and Sh. Karamjit Singh Sullar,, Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal.Besides this, 4 benches at Sub-Division, Kharar of Ms. Shilpi Gupta, Additional Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Ms. Krishnanuja Mittal, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Ms.Ankita Gupta, Civil Judge (Junior Division);Ms. Sudipa Kaur, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.) and 3benches at Sub-Division, Derabassi of Ms. Pavleen Singh, Additional Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Sh. GauravDutta, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.) and Sh. Jagmeet Singh, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.) were constituted for National Lok Adalat. For the successful organization of this National Lok Adalat, Sh. R.S. Rai, Ld. District & Sessions Judge had called various meetings of judicial officers, Presidents and Secretaries of the Bar Associations SAS Nagar, Derabassi and Kharar, officials of other Departments i.e. Banks, Electricity Department, Labour Department, Insurance Companies etc. to sensitize them about the National Lok Adalat. They were also motivated and instructed to identify maximum number of cases which could be taken up in the National Lok Adalat and to make maximum efforts for disposal of the same in the Pre-Lok Adalats and National Lok Adalat. In this National Lok Adalat, 5880 cases were taken up out of which 2117 cases were disposed of by virtue of compromise and awards of Rs.70,48,05,198/- were passed by the different Lok Adalat benches. Sh. Baljinder Singh Mann, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar made the general public aware about the benefits of Lok Adalat and that the award passed in Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties. It is non-appealable and the court fee is refunded. Even the parties go back satisfied. In other words, Lok Adalats are boon to the litigating public where they can get their disputes settled fast and free of cost amicably.
During the National Lok Adalat, COVID protocol was strictly followed. The social distancing was also maintained during the National Lok Adalat.
