Usage of electronics has posed a risk to the eyesight of the kids and adults as they spend hours on them whether at home or work. This makes the vision blurry, sore or dry. The early warning sign which your brain gives you is the headaches when you spend long hours on the screens.

Eye problems can be avoidable if you follow eye care habits regularly. Here are six things you should do every day to maintain your eye health and keep your vision sharp.

Keep Your Hands off

The first and most important point is to avoid the touch of hands on your eyes. Your hands contain a lot of dirt and can be the reason for catching the infection. Even if your eyes are itching, wash them with water instead of rubbing your eyes. To avoid any infection, keep your hands away from your eyes and practice frequently washing your hands.  This habit will be very beneficial for your eyes as well as for overall health.

Protect from the UV Light

Doctors recommend that sunlight and UV rays harm your eyes and increase your chances of getting a sunburn on your cornea. They advise putting on eyewear or sunglasses while in the vehicle to protect from the rays and the infection.

Healthy food leads to Good vision

Your eye health depends upon the food you eat throughout the day. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, deep yellow pulses and green leafy vegetables. Beta-carotene, Lutein, Omega-3, Lycopene and Vitamins C, A and E are necessary for good eye health. Eat food that contains plenty of nutrients. Fish such as salmon, tuna and halibut contain many omega-3 fatty acids that improve vision.

Need plenty of sleep and water

Water is the solution to most of the human body’s problems. Sufficient fluid intake is important for the overall health of your body, including your eyes. When the doctor says, our body needs rest it means your eyes need the rest to keep your eyes revitalized and healthy.

Limit your screen time

While using a phone or other electronic devices make sure you keep it at some distance as it prevents strain. Also, while using the screen always switch on the light as in the darker your eye will pay more strain and it will lead to the headache.

Quit Smoke and alcohol

If you are habitual of smoking and your vision is getting affected then you must limit your consumption. Slowly, stop taking it as it can reflect your eye health. Smoking increases your risk of age-related macular degeneration, there are chances of damaging the optic nerve.
