With the intention of filling the gap of mismanagement of the government during the Covid period, Bathinda’s famous Dr Vipul Gupta, even a week after the government announced the Kishori Ram Hospital for free treatment of poor patients, the administrative authorities had not taken any action yet. Expressing astonishment over the incompetence of the administrative officials and the government in this regard, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur and district president Neel Garg said that no decision by the officials even after a week since the file was sent by the hospital regarding free treatment of poor Covid patients; shows the seriousness about their work. It is worth mentioning that Dr Vipul Gupta had handed over his Kishori Ram Hospital to the Youth Welfare Society and announced his free services and free treatment of Covid patients at the hospital.
The AAP leaders said that even during a pandemic like Covid-19, the attitude adopted by the administrative officials and the Captain Amarinder Singh’s government, showed their seriousness towards the people of Punjab. “The issue should have been taken seriously and allowed within a few hours to save the lives of poor patients dying of treatment during the Covid pandemic. The hospital is in working condition and at present it has a capacity of 10 beds and up to 40 beds can be provided as per the requirement,” they added. In such a scenario, it may be a ray of hope for the patients of Bathinda and adjoining areas, but due to the anti-people attitude of the government officials, the process was being delayed, said the leaders.
Prof Baljinder Kaur and Neel Garg said that the matter should be seriously investigated as the administrative authorities could do so with the intention of benefiting a few private hospitals. They said that recently 29 ventilators sent by the Punjab government had been handed over to some private hospitals and 10 more ventilators would be sent to Bathinda in the coming days. The leaders demanded that the government should immediately allow the opening of Kishori Ram Hospital and also provide these 10 ventilators to it so that the poor could get free treatment. Taking a dig at Bathinda MLA and Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, the leaders said that the MLA was hiding at his home when the people of Bathinda were dying in a pandemic like Covid.
