KARGIL JUNE 15, 2021: Health Department Kargil organized a training programme on Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccination (PCV) at Taisuru Block here today.
MMPHWs, FMPHWs, ASHAs, AWWs, Data Operators and Cold Chain Handlers attended the training programme.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Kargil Dr Muhammad Abass, Block Medical Officer Taisuru Dr Sajjad Hussain and Community Health Officer Kargil Aga Syed Muhammad Shah were the resource persons during the training programme.
During the course of the training programme, the resource persons imparted training to the participants about the common forms of pneumococcal disease, its transmission and diagnosis, need to vaccinate against pneumococcal disease, vaccination schedule for PCV, steps taken to ensure that an infant is vaccinated on time, how safe is PCV, common PCV side effects, storing, preparing and administering the vaccine, and other related aspects.
Pertinently, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI has introduced the PCV in the Universal Immunization Program (UIP) to protect children against the Pneumococcal disease.
Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) protects children from pneumonia and the vaccine is being administered under 1 year children at the age of 6 weeks, 14 weeks and 9 months with routine immunization.
Meanwhile, a similar training programme on Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccination was also organized at Community Health Centre (CHC) Sankoo on Monday.
