Like Badals, Captain Amarinder running government like a corporate company
Chandigarh, July 30 2021
Strongly supporting the demands of the government employees of Punjab and their struggle, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Principal Budh Ram and Master Baldev Singh said that the public employees are the backbone of the Punjab government, but the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and the Congress party are breaking the backbone of the government by exploiting the employees. Urging the Chief Minister to give priority to the demands of the government employees and the development of education, they said that no government could do anything without the employees and the public welfare schemes of the government remain dormant.
In a joint statement issued from the party headquarters here on Friday, Principal Budh Ram and Master Baldev Singh alleged that the ruling Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal Badal and the BJP governments had always robbed and exploited the rights of the government employees. “Whenever the government employees are forced to take to the streets for their demands, the government oppresses the employees. The government system also abuses women employees and pensioners,” they added.
Principal Budh Ram said that the employees were already unhappy with the decisions of the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, but the government was going to further rob the rights of the employees by implementing the report of Montek Singh Ahluwalia. “This committee was formed by Captain, but it has done the work of the Modi government,” he said.
The AAP leader said the Captain government was cheating the employees on issues like pay commission, DA, permanent appointment of raw employees, pension scheme and new recruitments. Due to this, the employees from Punjab Secretariat to village, doctors, teachers, Asha and Anganwadi workers, drivers-conductors, nurses, clerks, servants etc were all fighting for their rights; but it did not fall on the deaf ears of the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, he asserted.
Master Baldev Singh alleged that like the Badals, Captain Amarinder Singh was running the government like a corporate house. “Privatization policy and mafia are being patronized, but employees, pensioners and the unemployed seeking employment are being persecuted,” he said. The MLAs said that the Aam Aadmi Party has always stood by the government employees and with the formation of the AAP government in the state; the rights of the government employees will be restored so that the backbone of the government can be strengthened.
