Annual function of Girls Hostel No. 6, Mother Teresa Hall was organized today under the under the guidance of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, P.U., Chd. and supervision of Prof. Jagtar Singh, DSW, Prof. Roopali Garg, DSW(W) and Prof. Ashok Kumar, Associate DSW, P.U., Chd.
Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Prof. Renu Vig, Dean of University Instruction, Prof. Roopali Garg, Dean Student Welfare (W), Prof. Anju Suri, Dean College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dr. Neelam, Gynecology Deptt., PGI, Chandigarh were the Guest of Honour at the Annual Function of the hostel.
The residents introduced the Chief Guest, Guest of Honors and other dignitaries to the audience. Dr. Manisha Sharma, warden, GH-6 welcomed Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Chandigarh, Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh and other Guest of Honors by offering them saplings of tulsi and other plants.
Smt. Sarbjit Kaur visited the hostel temple, dining hall, herbal garden, kitchen garden and fruit gardens of the hostel. She addressed the residents and said that Panjab University has given eminent women personalities such as Sushma Swaraj, IPS Kiran Bedi, Kiroon Kher to the nation. She said girls are much more ahead than males. Girls have proved themselves with their capabilities. It is proud for all of us that girls can do everything in every field. She motivated the girl residents to work hard and come up to serve the nation in any field.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, P.U., Chd. thanked Smt. Sarbjit Kaur for sparing her valuable time to attend this occasion. He said that Panjab University is a place for overall development of students. He further said that according to New Education Policy, the education will be given in a new manner. He talked about the changes in the last few years the university has got. He talked about the facilities available in the university and advised not to misuse these facilities. It is the responsibility of students to represent Panjab University in other areas after their education from this university.
The residents presented many cultural programs in front of guests. They participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Prize distribution was also held after the cultural program. Prizes and certificates were given by Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor and Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, P.U. to the residents. The residents have taken photographs with the Mayor.
Dr. Manisha Sharma thanked all the guests for making this event a great success with their benign presence. The residents enjoyed a lot on DJ party after the prize distribution function.
