District Legal Service Authority, Barnala organized prize distribution and book release function at Court Complex, Barnala on 09.11.2021 in order to celebrate Legal Services Day in connection with legal service week, which commenced from 8th November and is being celebrated up to 14th November, 2021.

This program was in the series of programs being organized by District Legal Service Authority, Barnala to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and National Awareness and Outreach programme from 2nd October, 2021 to 14th November, 2021.
Sh.Virinder Aggarwal, Chairman, D.L.S.A., Barnala was Chief Guest, Sh. Gurbaj Singh, Superintendent of Police, Barnala, Sh.Sarabjit Singh Toor, D.E.O., Barnala, Sh.Om Parkash Gaso, Eminent Writer alongwith all other Judicial Officers were present. Sh. Narinder Ghugianvi, Eminent Writer conducted the stage proceedings. During this programme, District Legal Service Authority, Barnala unveiled the book titled “Apni Boli Apne Kanoon”. This book is compilation of main provisions of various laws with which public in general deals with in their daily routine.
The simple Punjabi version of various important provisions of laws dealing with arrest, dowry, offence against women, children, sexual exploitation at work places, maintenance laws, right to compensation under Motor Vehicle Act etc are contained in this book. The main motive of release of this book in simple Punjabi is that general public should be made aware about the legal provisions containing their rights and duties under various laws as it is general principle of law that ignorance of law is no excuse. Most of our laws are in English language, which is beyond comprehension of general masses. Easy Punjabi conversion of main provisions of major laws would help general public in knowing about their laws. Their rights and obligations under various laws. This book would be distributed free of cost to the public in general, a copy each would be sent to all the schools, colleges and all the panchayats of the area so that public at large can get benefit of this book.

Another book was also released during this function titled “Nyay Pranali Di Sanskriti” written by Sh.Om Parkash Gaso, Eminent Writer. In this book, writer has beautifully summed up the cultural thread with which judicial system of country is bound. This book has been printed by Tarak Bharti Parkashan, Barnala.

At this occasion, prizes were distributed to students, who secured positions in various competitions organized by District Legal Service Authority under Pan India Awareness and Outreach Program. Senior Advocates of Bar Association, Barnala, who offered their services on Pro Bono basis were also honoured with appreciation letters. District Legal Services Authority has started providing the services of Senior Advocates alongwith panel Advocates to the persons willing to avail legal services. This is an effort to improve the standard of legal services provided through legal service authority free of costs to the citizens so that citizens who are entitled to receive this service can get best services.

During this programme, students of Mother Teacher International School, L.B.S. College, Guru Gobind Singh College, Sanghera were also honoured with award of appreciation for their services rendered during this Pan India Awareness Program. These students performed Nukad Nataks at various points of District Barnala during this period of more than one month. While addressing the gathering, Chief Guest emphasised that more and more people should come forward to avail legal services. He also requested litigants to come forward to settle their disputes by way of amicable settlement in next National Lok Adalat to be held on 11th December, 2021.
