Ayurveda: 4 home remedies to get rid of cough, cold

Winter is quickly approaching, and the shift in climate has led to an increase in viral and respiratory diseases. Fever, sore throat, cough, and cold symptoms, among others, could possibly be caused by worsening pollution levels and novel Omicron subvariants. While it’s recommended to visit your preferred physician as soon as you experience the aforementioned symptoms, there are a few Ayurvedic home remedies that may help you manage flu-like symptoms successfully.

For example, dry ginger has a lot of anti-inflammatory qualities that could aid with cold and cough symptoms. The ordinary spices and herbs in your kitchen, such as turmeric, ginger, black pepper, tulsi, carrom seeds, mint leaves, and fenugreek seeds, might show to be very beneficial in calming your throat, increasing immunity, and alleviating other symptoms.

The following are 4 Ayurvedic treatments for cough, cold, and sore throat:

1. Throughout the day, sip Shunthi Siddha Jala (water heated with dried ginger powder).

It relaxes your throat and aids in digestion of ama. Additionally, it aids in easing persistent cough.

One light cup of water should be boiled for ten minutes on a medium burner with half a teaspoon of dried ginger powder (shunthi) or a short stalk of fresh ginger. After that, strain it and allow it to cool before putting it in a steel bottle for storage.

2. Use this homemade herbal mixture

– Consume 1/2 tsp of turmeric.

– 1/8 teaspoon dried ginger powder

– 1/4 tsp black pepper powder or one freshly crushed black peppercorn

1 teaspoon of pure honey

– Combine thoroughly, and consume it twice or three times day, an hour before or after meals.

3. Use this Ayurvedic mixture for steam inhalation twice daily.

– Drink two glasses of water.

– Include a few tulsi leaves.

7 to 10 pudina (mint leaves)

1 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)

– 12 teaspoon methi (fenugreek seeds)

– 12 teaspoon haldi (turmeric)

– Boil it over a medium temperature for 7 to 10 minutes.

And the potent mixture is prepared.

4. Use turmeric water to gargle

– Boil a glass of water with 1 teaspoon of turmeric in it for 3 to 5 minutes.

– Use this water to gargle two to three times daily.

This is effective for everyone (the dosage for kids is half than mentioned above).

– Do try this for yourself, and tell your loved ones who are sick with the virus to try it as well.
