Cabinet Minister Dr. Verka lays foundation stone of Nursing College at Mohali

Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister  Dr. Raj Kumar Verka today laid the foundation stone of Government Nursing College to be constructed near Government College Mohali .
On the occasion Mr. Verka said that besides the construction of Government Medical College and this Nursing College the Punjab Government was spending around Rs.600 crore for the betterment of this area.

Mr. Verka said that this college would not only provide affordable treatment to the people but also produce medical students for the state.  He also lauded the efforts of former Minister and MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu for this project.  He said that this college was being established by the Chief Minister and this is a gift from Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi to Mohali.
Mr. Verka said that every effort was being made to provide better healthcare facilities in the state so that the people of the state could get better treatment facilities in the government hospitals.  He said that all the shortcomings in the field of medical education and research were being addressed to provide better health care facilities to the people.
On the occasion former Minister and MLA Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that after 45 years Medical College was coming into existence in the state.   He said that his dream was to have Government Dental College and Homeopathy College along with these colleges, which would make Mohali a medical hub and make the city famous in the medical field.
Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Principal Secretary Medical Education Mr. Alok Shekhar, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Isha Kalia, DRME.  Dr.  Avinash, Director Principal of Dr. BR Ambedkar, State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali Dr.  Bhawanit, Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, District Congress President Rishav Jain and other dignitaries.
