Delhi, 23 FEB 2024

Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the able guidance of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, India achieved a new milestone in clean energy and responsible tourism today. During an event in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation two hybrid electric catamaran vessels – MV Guh and MV Nishadraj- built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) through Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).

MV Guh will sail on the River Saryu in Ayodhya, and MV Nishadraj on the River Ganga in Varanasi. These state-of-the-art vessels, with a seating capacity of 50 passengers each, are powered by fast-charging batteries and are designed to reduce carbon emissions by 400 MT annually.  These green vessels will promote religious tourism in the state. Indigenously built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, they will now be operated by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Urban water transport in India is gaining momentum as a sustainable solution for easing congestion and reducing pollution in metropolitan areas. With initiatives like the development of waterways and introduction of modern vessels, cities are embracing water transport to enhance connectivity and promote eco-friendly commuting options.

With these deployments, the Government of India also aims to foster the confidence of the stakeholders in the maritime sector and usher them towards transitioning to greener and cleaner fuels as emphasized under the Harit Nauka- Inland Vessels Green Transition Guidelines, published on 8th January 2024.

The Harit Nauka Guidelines shows MoPSW’s commitment to transform the maritime landscape by adopting green vessels & establish operationalization of green ecosystem. It also aims to embrace low/zero emission sources of fuel & attain 100% green vessels in the Indian waters by 2047.

Along with this, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated four community jetties on the ghats of Varanasi and laid the foundation stone for 13 community jetties along National Waterway 1 (NW 1) in Varanasi and National Waterway 110 in Mathura and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

The Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) being implemented by the Inland Waterways Authority of India aims to improve the navigability of the 1390 km stretch of NW1 from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal. Sixty community jetties are being developed under JMVP to improve the socio-economic condition of people living along NW1 (the Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly river system). These community jetties aim to provide local farmers, traders, industries ease of access to nearby markets, thereby offering better opportunities for trade and employment, promoting tourism, and improving hinterland connectivity.

Besides this, a Quick Pontoon Opening Mechanism System (QPOMS) was also inaugurated. The QPOMS will help in reducing the time for the manual dismantling and reassembly of the kulfi pontoon bridges across NW-1 in a quick and efficient manner, thus reducing the overall inconvenience and delays to vessel as well as vehicular traffic. The installation of the QPOM will thus help in cutting down the overall logistics cost and reducing time from six hours to 30 minutes.

With the launch of these innovative projects and infrastructure, the nation takes a significant step towards harnessing clean energy, promoting responsible tourism, and enhancing connectivity across its waterways. The collaborative efforts between the government, stakeholders, and local communities exemplify a shared vision for a greener future for all.

MoPSW aims to boost the share of Inland Water Transport (IWT) to 5% by 2030 as part of the Maritime India Vision (MIV), signaling a comprehensive effort towards fostering maritime sector growth and connectivity enhancement.

Under the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, 46 initiatives have been outlined, with key measures aimed at enhancing the modal share of coastal shipping and inland water transport. These initiatives include the creation of port-based agglomeration centers and coastal berths near production/demand centers along the coast. Additionally, there are plans for road, rail, and inland waterway connectivity and expansion projects, as well as efforts to reduce port dues and terminal charges. Fiscal incentives, such as allowing input tax credit on bunker fuel and spares purchased from various states, along with the reduction of GST for multimodal transportation, are also proposed. Operationalizing 50 waterways by 2047 and introducing low-draft vessel designs, possibly in combination with tug-barge configurations, are among the strategies aimed at furthering these goals.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham Temple in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh today. The Prime Minister also unveiled the model of Shri Kalki Dham Temple. Shri Kalki Dham is being constructed by Shri Kalki Dham Nirman Trust whose chairman is Acharya Pramod Krishnam. The program is being attended by many saints, religious leaders and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the land of Lord Shri Ram and Lord Shri Krishna is once again filled with devotion, emotion and spirituality today as the foundation stone of another significant pilgrimage is being laid. Shri Modi expressed gratitude on getting the opportunity in laying the foundation stone for Shri Kalki Dham Temple in Sambhal and also expressed confidence that it will emerge as a new center of India’s spirituality. PM Modi conveyed his best wishes to all citizens and pilgrims from around the world.

Mentioning the 18 year wait for the inauguration of the Dham, the Prime Minister said that it seems that there are many good works that have been left for him to accomplish. He said with the blessings of the people and the saints he will continue to clear unfinished tasks.

Noting that today is the Jayanti of Chhatrapti Shivaji Maharaj, the Prime Minister credited Shivaji Maharaj for today’s cultural revival, pride and confidence in our identity. The Prime Minister paid homage to Chhatrapti Shivaji Maharaj.

Throwing light on the architecture of the temple, the Prime Minister elaborated that it will have 10 garbh grihas where all 10 avatars of the Lord will be seated. Through these 10 avatars, PM Modi explained that the scriptures have presented all forms of the Lord including the human form. “In life, one can experience the consciousness of Lord”, the Prime Minister continued, “We have experienced Lord in the form of ‘Sinh (lion), Varah (boar) and Kachhap (tortoise)’”. He said that the establishment of the Lord in these form will present a holistic image of the people’s recognition of the Lord. The Prime Minister thanked the Lord for the blessings to give him the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham temple. The Prime Minister also bowed before all the saints present on the occasion for their guidance and also thanked Shri Acharya Pramod Krishnam.

The Prime Minister said that today’s event is another unique moment for India’s cultural renaissance. Referring to the consecration of Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya Dham and recent inauguration of the temple in Abu Dhabi, the Prime Minister said “What was beyond imagination has now become a reality”.

The Prime Minister underlined the value of such events coming in quick succession. He continued talking about the spiritual regeneration and mentioned Vishwanath Dham in Kashi, transformation of Kashi, Mahakaal Mahalok, Somnath and Kedarnath Dham. “We are moving with the mantra of ‘Vikas bhi Virasat Bhi’ – Heritage with Development” he said. He once again juxtaposed revival of spiritual centers with the high-tech urban infrastructure, temples with establishment of new medical colleges, return of artifact from abroad with foreign investment. He said this indicates that the circle of time has moved. He recalled his call from the Red Fort – ‘Yeh hai Samaya hai Sahi Samay Hai’ and emphasized the need for embracing this arrival.

Recalling the consecration ceremony of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister reiterated the beginning of a new ‘kaal chakra’ (circle of time) since 22 January, 2024 and highlighted impact of Shri Ram’s rule which lasted for thousands of years. Similarly, with Ram Lalla being seated now, India is beginning its new journey where the resolve for a Viksit Bharat in the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal  is not merely a desire. The Prime Minister said, “India’s culture and tradition has lived through this resolve in every time period”. Speaking about Acharya Pramod Krishnam ji’s research and study about the forms of Shri Kalki, the Prime Minister highlighted the aspects and scriptural knowledge and informed that Kalki’s forms will determine the path of the future for thousands of years, similar to Lord Shri Ram.

“Kalki is the initiator of change in the kaal chakra and is also a source of inspiration”, the Prime Minister remarked. He said that Kalki  Dham is going to be a place dedicated  to the Lord which is yet to be incarnated. He highlighted that such a concept about the future was written in the scriptures hundreds of thousands of years ago. Shri Modi lauded Acharya Pramod Krishnam for taking forward these beliefs with full faith and also devoting their lives to it. He pointed out the long battle fought by Acharya ji with the previous governments for the establishment of Kalki temple and mentioned visits to the court for the same. Recalling his recent interaction with Acharya ji, the Prime Minister said that he had known him only as a political personality but came to know his dedication towards religion and spirituality. “Today, Pramod Krishnam ji has been able to start the temple’s  work with peace of mind”, the Prime Minister said expressing confidence that the temple will be a proof of the positive outlook of the present government towards a better future.

The Prime Minister said that India knows how to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. He highlighted the resilience of Indian society in the face of a series of invitations. “In today’s India’s Amrit Kaal, the seed of India’s glory, height and strength is sprouting”, he added.  He further said that as the saints and religious leaders are constructing new temples, he has been tasked with the construction of the temple of the nation. “Day and night I am working for the grandeur and expansion of the glory of the temple of nation”, he added. “Today, for the first time, India is at a stage where we are not following but setting an example”, PM Modi emphasized. Listing the results of this commitment, the Prime Minister mentioned India turning into a hub of digital technology and innovation, India becoming 5th largest economy, success of Chandrayaan, modern trains like Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat, upcoming bullet train, a strong network of hi-tech highways and expressways. This accomplishment, the Prime Minister said, is making Indians feel pride and “this wave of positive thinking and confidence in the country is amazing. That is why today our capabilities are infinite, and the possibilities for us are also immense”.

PM Modi stressed that “a nation gets energy to succeed through collective”. He saw a grand collective consciousness in India today. “Every citizen is working with the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas”, He added.

The Prime Minister listed the efforts of the last 10 years – more than 4 crore pucca houses under PM Awas Yojana, 11 crore toilets, electricity to 2.5 crore families, piped water for more than 10 crore households, free ration for 80 crore citizens, subsidized gas cylinders for 10 crore women, 50 crore Ayushman Cards, Kisan Samman Nidhi for 10 crore farmers, free vaccine during the pandemic, Swachh Bharat.

The Prime Minister credited the citizens of the country for the speed and scale of the government’s work. He underlined that people of today are helping the poor avail the benefits of government schemes and taking part in the campaign for 100 percent saturation. He remarked that the spirit of service to the poor has come from India’s spiritual values which inspire ‘Nar mein Narayan’ (existence of God in the people). He reiterated his appeal to the country to the five principles of ‘building aViksit Bharat’ and ‘taking pride in our heritage’.

The Prime Minister said “whenever India takes big resolutions, divine consciousness definitely comes among us in some form or the other to guide it.” Referring to the philosophy of Gita, the Prime Minister stressed the need for relentless action. “In this ‘Kartavya Kaal’ for the next 25 years, we have to achieve the pinnacle of hard work. We have to work selflessly keeping service to the country at the forefront. What benefit the nation will get from our every effort, this question should come first in our mind. This question will offer solutions to the collective challenges of the nation” The Prime Minister concluded.

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, and Pithadheeshwar of Shree Kalki Dham, Acharya Pramod Krishnam were present on the occasion among others.

PM Modi will always be credited for having introduced a new work culture in India wherein each of the pro-poor and public welfare schemes were designed in such a manner so as to reach the neediest or the last man in the last queue, regardless of caste, creed, religion or vote consideration: Dr Jitendra Singh

“Viksit Bharat Yatra targets those citizens who probably did not come forward or are unaware of the various schemes they are eligible for or such people who may not have sought the benefits due to them”: Dr Jitendra Singh
Delhi, 16 JAN 2024

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has ensured doorstep delivery of government welfare benefits to citizens.

Addressing a “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” program at Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, Dr Jitendra Singh said, there was a time when even for small benefits the poor citizen had to repeatedly knock from one office to another, in frustration give up his legitimate due and most often resign to one’s fate since he was not influential enough to the right strings or grease the official machinery.

“Now, PM Narendra Modi has turned everything upside down, – government officials come to the doorstep of each and every citizen since they have been made accountable to authorities to report whether all beneficiaries have been covered or not,” the Minister said.

This has been made possible due to the visionary and imaginative leadership of the Prime Minister that has enabled the citizen to be the nodal point of government planning and every welfare scheme is devised with the common man in mind, he said.

“Purely objective parameters are being followed to deliver justice, wherever justice had been denied in the past. This, he said, was quite a departure from the past practice followed by previous opposition governments, wherein vote bank politics pre-determined the selective rolling out of State benefits” he said.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, Prime Minister Modi will always be credited for having introduced a new work culture in India wherein each of the pro-poor and public welfare schemes were designed in such a manner so as to reach the neediest or the last man in the last queue, regardless of caste, creed, religion or vote consideration.

“IEC Vans are Modi Guarantee Vans, where 100 percent saturation is being attempted of the 17-18 major flagship schemes introduced in the last 9-10 years for socio-economic upliftment of the weaker and marginalised sections of society,” he said.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, during a short span of nine and half years, the Centre has been able to bring many schemes closer to 100% saturation and benefits are given to deserving people by following the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”. Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is a novel concept, aiming for saturation of all government schemes such as the Ujjwala Yojana, SVANidhi, PM Awas Yojana etc, he said.

“The Viksit Bharat Yatra targets those citizens who probably did not come forward or are unaware of the various schemes they are eligible for or such people who may not have sought the benefits due to them,” he said.

The Minister added that Prime Minister Modi successfully raised the standards of public delivery much above the vote consideration, based on the principle of justice for all and then left to the public to decide whom they wanted to vote for, and the public too endorsed this approach by returning the Modi government for the second term with a much higher mandate than the earlier election, he added.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, his parliamentary constituency has achieved virtually near saturation in all Central Government welfare schemes, be it PM Kisan Yojana, Soil Health Card, PM Maan Dhan Yojana, Kisan Credit Card etc.

“Pertinent to mention that for the last 3 to 4 years Udhampur has been consecutively securing top rank or one of the top 3 ranks among all districts of the country in the implementation of Central PMGSY road projects,” he said.

Dr Jitendra Singh, there is a network of roads being established even in far flung hilly terrains of Udhampur and in some of the peripheral villages.  Asia’s longest road tunnel was also inaugurated here by Prime Minister Modi, which takes off from Chenani and is the first such project to be named after Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, he added.

Similarly, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Udhampur railway station has been expanded and is possibly the first railway station of the country to be named after a martyr soldier Captain Tushar Mahajan.  With the Kashmir Valley soon to be linked by railway with the rest of the country in next few months, Udhampur is going to emerge as the most important railway junction in North India, he said and added that we have already demanded that a full-fledged Division Headquarters of Railways be set up at Udhampur.

Viksit Bharat Yatra focuses on the various Jan Bhagidari events like experience sharing by beneficiaries of the schemes, interaction with progressive farmers, celebration of achievements of Gram Panchayats achieving 100% saturation of schemes like Ayushman Card, Jal Jeevan Mission, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, ODF Plus status, on the spot quiz competitions, Drone demonstration, health camps and Mera Yuva Bharat volunteer enrolment.

The Viksit Bharat Campaign, one of the largest ever outreach initiatives to be undertaken, eventually aims to cover over 2.55 lakh Gram Panchayats and over 3,600 urban local bodies by 25th January 2024 touching every district of the country.

The entire campaign is being planned and implemented with the ‘whole of Government’ approach with active participation and involvement of the State Governments, District authorities, Urban Local Bodies and Gram Panchayats.

It may be noted that the IEC Vans have been branded and customised to enable dissemination of information through audio visuals, brochures, pamphlets, booklets and flagship standees in Hindi and state languages showcasing the major schemes, highlights and their achievements at national, state and district level.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh at ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ on 76th Army Day in Lucknow
“Idea of celebrating Army/Navy/Air Force Day outside Delhi is to take the country’s tradition & military progress to the people”
“Our military focusses on tradition, along with bringing a positive change through new innovations”
 Delhi, 15 JAN 2024

A military and combat display ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ was organised at Lucknow Cantonment in Uttar Pradesh, as part of the 76th Army Day celebrations on January 15, 2024. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, civil invitees and military personnel graced the event, which featured Martial Arts displays such as Kalaripayettu, Gatka, and a performance by North East Warriors.

A thrilling display by the Daredevils motorcycle team of the Indian Army as well as Tent pegging & trick riding by eight horses of the Remount Veterinary Corps also enthralled the spectators. The static display included Akash Missiles, K9 Vajra, Anti-Drone equipment, Bofors guns, artillery weapons systems and other equipment and technology used by the Indian Army. A combat free fall from 8,000 feet was carried out by 12 Indian Army personnel. Su-30 MKI, Surya Kiran aerobatic team and Advanced Light Helicopters lit up the skies during ‘Shaurya Sandhya’.

In his address, the Raksha Mantri spoke about the unique character of an Indian soldier, which is rooted in the cultural values of the country. He described patriotism, courage, humanity and loyalty towards the Indian constitution as the four most important qualities of a soldier. “A soldier who protects the motherland, with the spirit of ‘Whether I live or not, my country must remain safe’, is an exemplary patriot. It is this patriotism that gives courage to the soldier. The contribution of our soldiers in UN peacekeeping operations and relief & rescue during disasters, as well as the respect with which they treated 90,000 Pakistani troops during the 1971 war is proof that they possess humanity. In our own neighbourhood, we can witness the disconnect between the military and their constitutional values. But, the Indian military’s devotion towards the constitutional values is incomparable and recognised by all,” he said.

Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the fact that the Indian military is not only focussing on tradition, but is also bringing about a positive change through new innovations and ideas. He was of the view that tradition cannot be set in a state of inertia; it should flow continuously and mould according to the changing times.

The Raksha Mantri asserted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led Government’s decision to organise Army/Navy/Air Force Day outside Delhi is based on the idea of taking the celebrations, a symbol of the country’s tradition, as well as the military progress to the people. “The country is now witnessing how our military is continuously being equipped with modern weapons/technologies powered by drones and artificial intelligence, as well as the growing role of women in the Armed Forces. Not every person gets the opportunity to join the military, but those who witnessed today’s event were able to experience the preparedness of our military to protect the nation. This has brought people closer to our soldiers. It will definitely inspire our youth to join the Armed Forces or serve the nation with the same dedication and commitment as our soldiers,” he said.

Shri Rajnath Singh voiced the Government’s unwavering resolve of strengthening the Armed Forces and said that the Ministry of Finance, without any hesitation, releases funds sought by the Ministry of Defence, which symbolises the Government’s dedication towards the soldiers. He added that not only the serving soldiers, the Government is fully committed to the welfare of the ex-servicemen. Be it ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme or providing health care & re-employment opportunities, all possible efforts are being made for the well-being of veterans, he said. The Raksha Mantri described it as a moral and national responsibility of the people to acknowledge and respect the contribution of the ex-servicemen in safeguarding the country. Shri Rajnath Singh also launched a first day postal cover on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, the 76th Army Day Parade was held at Thakur Sheodatt Singh Parade Ground, 11 GRRC, Lucknow. The Chief of the Army Staff reviewed the parade & presented gallantry awards. The Chief of Defence Staff and other senior military personnel attended the parade.

The Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to commemorate the achievements of the first Commander in Chief of the Indian Army General (later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa. On this day in 1949, Gen Cariappa, who led Indian forces to victory in the 1947 war, took over the command of the Indian Army from General Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief and became the first Commander-in-Chief of Independent India.

Delhi: 17 DEC 2023

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh today. Shri Modi flagged off the Kanyakumari – Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train and launched multi language and braille translations of Thirukkural, Manimekalai and other classic Tamil literature on the occasion. He also took a walkthrough of the exhibition and witnessed a cultural program. Kashi Tamil Sangamam aims to celebrate, reaffirm and rediscover the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi – two of the country’s most important and ancient seats of learning.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister welcomed everyone not as guests but as his family members. He underlined that arriving in Kashi from Tamil Nadu simply means traveling from one abode of Lord Mahadev to the other namely Madurai Meenakshi to Kashi Vishalakshi. Highlighting the unique love and connection between the people of Tamil Nadu and Kashi, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in the hospitality of the citizens of Kashi. Along with the blessings of Lord Mahadev, the Prime Minister emphasized that the participants will return to Tamil Nadu with Kashi’s culture, delicacies and memories. Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the use of Artificial Intelligence in real-time translation of his speech in Tamil for the first time and reiterated its usage in future events.

The Prime Minister flagged off the Kanyakumari – Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train and launched multi language and braille translations of Thirukkural, Manimekalai and other classic Tamil literature on the occasion. Quoting Subramania Bharathi, the Prime Minister said that vibrations of Kashi-Tamil Sangamam are spreading throughout the country and the world.

Shri Modi noted that lakhs of people including heads of mutts, students, artists, authors, craftsmen and professionals have become part of Kashi Tamil Sangamam since its inception last year and it has become an effective platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas. He expressed satisfaction on the joint initiative by Banaras Hindu University and IIT, Chennai where IIT, Chennai is providing online support to thousands of students from Varanasi in Science and Mathematics under the Vidya Shakti Initiative. These recent developments, the Prime Minister said, are proof of the emotional and creative bond between the people of Kashi and Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister said that “Kashi Tamil Sangamam furthers the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.” This spirit was behind the organization of Kashi Telugu Sangamam and Saurashtra Kashi Sangamam, he said. The spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat got further strength from the new tradition of celebration of other statehood days in all the Raj Bhavans of the country. PM Modi also recalled the establishment of the sacred Sengol in the new Parliament under the supervision of the Aadinam saints reflecting the same spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat. “This flow of spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ is infusing the soul of our nation today”, he said.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that India’s diversity has been moulded in the spiritual consciousness as signified by Great Pandian King Parakram Pandian who had said that every water in India is Gangajal, and every geographical location of the country is Kashi. Reflecting on the time when the centers of faith in Northern India were constantly under attack by foreign powers, the Prime Minister highlighted King Parakram Pandian’s efforts to keep the heritage of Kashi alive with the construction of Tenkasi and Sivakasi temples. Shri Modi also recalled the fascination of the dignitaries taking part in the G20 Summit towards India’s diversity.

The Prime Minister said that in other countries, nation has been defined in political terms whereas India, as a nation, is constructed out of spiritual beliefs.  India, PM Modi said, has been unified by saints like Adi Shankaracharya and Ramanjuam. The Prime Minister also recalled the role of yatras of Aadina saints to Shiv Sthans. “Due to these Yatras, India has remained eternal and unwavering as a nation”, Shri Modi added.

Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction with the peaking interests of the country’s youth towards ancient traditions as he observed that a large number of people, students and youth from Tamil Nadu are traveling to Kashi, Prayag, Ayodhya and other pilgrimage sites. “Darshan of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, who established Rameshwaram along with Lord Mahadev, is divine”, the Prime Minister said, noting that special arrangements are also being made for Ayodhya visit of those attending the Kashi Tamil Sangamam.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for knowing each other’s culture as this increases trust and develops rapport. Giving an example of the two great temple cities, Kashi and Madurai, Shri Modi said that Tamil literature talks about both Vagai and Gangai (Ganga). “When we come to know of this heritage we feel the depth of our relations”, he said.

Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that the confluence of Kashi – Tamil Sangamam will continue empowering India’s heritage, and strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Concluding the address, the Prime Minister hoped for a pleasant stay for those visiting Kashi and also thanked renowned singer Shriram for captivating the entire audience with his performance.
