Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today visited Lalung, Silmo, and Hordas to review the ongoing developmental projects in the area.

The CEC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development Ghulam Muhammad, Executive Engineer R&B Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control Muhammad Hassan, Executive Engineer Kargil Development Authority Sajjad Wazir, Chief Horticulture Officer Ali Raza, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma besides officials of Soil Conservation Department, PDD, PHE besides other officials.

The CEC interacted with public and their representatives at Lalung, Silmo, Darchiks, and Hordas and gave patient hearing to their issues and demands.

At Lalung, the villagers put forth various issues before the CEC like development of Brakchan to Imam Bargah road, compound walling at school, water supply to Mosque, repairing of Panchayat Ghar, renovation of various irrigation canals and maintenance of electric transmission lines.

Responding to the issues CEC Khan informed the public about various ongoing and proposed developmental achievements in the village viz solar battery that has been changed to ensure proper electricity supply, two ice hockey rinks being developed at the village, water supply project for the village which is  in pipeline, street light installation and lights at graveyard  that is  also in plan for development, winter tuition  shall also begin in the village.

The CEC further assured the villagers to provide fencing for the school, two training centres for females, and a submersible pump for the village Mosque. He further appraised the public especially youth to make their schools functional on the pattern of model schools so as to provide quality education to the students.

At Silmo, the public expressed their gratitude to the CEC for his overwhelming support for the development of the region viz realignment of road from Hambuting La, transmission line from Chutuk project, irrigation canals, guest house, community hall, Higher Secondary to Lakha road, road to Adam Mohalla, fencing for Higher Secondary School Hostel, Archery ground etc.

The public further demanded for a Sheep Husbandry Centre, archery ground at Lakha, office building for Animal Husbandry, playground, medical centre, development of Dambuchan canal, solar greenhouse, bank branch, and ration store.

In this regard the CEC appraised the public that black topping of road from Hambutingla will be done by next year.

He informed that PDD is  already working for the maintenance of electricity transmission lines, road to Thajing has been approved, irrigation canal to Lakha has also been approved under I&FC, and work on higher secondary to Bari Road has already been  started and  will resume again in the next working season. He further informed that tendering has been done for renovation of the ration store.

For development of water supply, CEC Khan instructed the public representatives to resolve the dispute with Lalung village to execute the project under JJM.

He further informed that proposal for three Bank branches has already been forwarded which  will be approved soon and one of it  is proposed at Silmo.

The CEC expressed optimism over the progress being made in the area under different departments. He requested the public to cooperate with the departments especially in terms of providing land for development of various projects.

He further informed the public about proposal for merge of schools and emphasized on increasing the roll of students at their respective schools, or else those school with less rolls of students will be merged.

At Hordas, the public demanded to resolve the shortage of water supply. It was informed that the water source is at Banju, which is 2-3 km away from the village.

The CEC instructed the concerned officials to conduct a survey to renovate the existing canal from the water source.

He assured to post an ASHA worker at the village to look after minor ailments. He further assured to provide a training centre for females, tuition centre in winter, and two pack houses. He also distributed four water lifting pumps at the village which were procured under CCDA.

On the way, CEC Khan also visited newly developing road to Sharchay Muzbar which is developing at a cost of Rs 10 crore including a tunnel of 400 meters.

The concerned officers informed that the road will be completed by the end of 2022. The CEC also inspected           construction work of Cafeteria, War Memorial and Aryan Gate near Darchiks village.

At Silmo, ACD Ghulam Muhammad appraised the public about sustainable rural economy and livelihood under the scheme Vandhan which is aimed to provide packaging and marketing techniques for local products to boost rural economy.
