CEC Kargil reviews stock, supply position of essential commodities, winter preparedness

KARGIL AUGUST 22, 2020: In order to review the stock and supply position of essential commodities, medicare facilities and winter preparedness in the district, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan convened a meeting of the Executive Councillors and district officers here today.

Executive Councilor Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councilor Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi, Executive Councilor Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil Shabir Hussain, officers of Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, FCS&CA, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Cooperatives, Executive Engineers of EM&RE Division and Mechanical Division, Depot Manager FCI besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Threadbare discussion was held on the availability of medicines and medical equipments especially for COVID-19 management during the winter months, food grains, kerosene oil, LPG, medicines, seeds, fertilizers, equipments, timber, firewood, hard coke and other essential commodities for all areas of the district including Zanskar Sub Division.

Underlining the need for concrete measures to be taken to deal with the COVID-19 situation during the ensuing winter season, the CEC directed officers concerned to speed up the process of setting up of additional oxygen plant and oxygen concentrators at the dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kurbathang. He also highlighted the need for set up of Oxygen Bank at the COVID-19 Hospital.

Other issues like handing over of the COVID-19 Laboratory infrastructure to Health Department  Kargil and procurement of Bio Rate Machine and RNA Extractor also came up for discussion.

The CMO Kargil informed the meeting that supply of medicines for peripheries is currently provided from the buffer stock while the process stocking of medicines and other requirements especially for winter season are at different stages.

Besides the Health Sector, officers of other departments also informed the meeting in detail about the supply and stocking of essential commodities.

The officers of FCI informed that against the required stocking for 15 months, stocking has been done for 16 months with 1 month surplus stocking while in the case of FCS&CA it was given out that out of the total requirement of 46296 quintals of rice, 27533 quintals have been stocked till date and out of the required 32674 quintals wheat, 25321 quintals have been stocked so far.

The CEC directed the concerned officers to work with utmost dedication and commitment to ensure the supply and stocking all left out essential commodities in a timely manner so that people do not face any inconvenience during the winter season.
