Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid homage to Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan on his anniversary. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan garlanded his portrait in the auditorium at his residence. Shri Jaiprakash Narayan, popularly known as JP or ‘Lok Nayak’, was an Indian freedom fighter, social reformer and politician. Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan was born on 11 October 1902 in Bihar’s Sitab-Diyara. He is mainly known for leading the opposition against Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1970. The Government of India posthumously awarded him the country’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’ in 1998. In 1965, he was also honoured with the ‘Raman Magsaysay’ award for social service. Loknayak died on October 8, 1979 in Patna after a prolonged illness.
