DC Kulgam briefs media on Covid-19 management, mitigation efforts

Says positivity rate on decline; strict adherence to SOPs, vaccination important to defeat pandemic
KULGAM, JUNE 04, 2021: The district Kulgam is recording continuous decline in positivity rate and situation is also gradually improving, however people need  to follow all SOPs religiously to keep Covid at bay, said the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat during a press brief here.
The DC said that intensified testing across the district is being conducted on a daily basis and the positivity rate is on decline, adding that the district has also recorded a recovery rate of 86 percent.
He said the maternity covid care facilities are being provided at emergency hospital Qazigund and in this week 3 maternity cases were  operated successfully at this hospital.
He stated that collectively we will overcome this situation and for it we need to be extra careful.
With regard to vaccination, the DC said that 70 percent of the population above the age of 45 years stands vaccinated, and to achieve the target of 100 percent vaccination of this age group slew of measures have been taken by district Administration.
He said door to door vaccination has been started in the district, and people should not pay heed to rumours, fake news and should get themselves vaccinated at an earliest.
As business activities were resumed partially in the district, everyone needs to stick to SOPs and guidelines  in letter and spirit to  stop  spread of this infection, he appealed.
