Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Contribution Starts in Patiala

Patiala Has Legacy of 68 Army Martyrs

Patiala, December 7-

Armed Forces Flag Day Fund collection Started in Patiala today by presenting a Token Flag to the Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit in his office by District Defense Services Welfare Officer, Lt. Col. (Retired) M S Randhawa.

While contributing to the fund, DC Amit Kumar appeals to the residents of the district to contribute whole heartedly for the welfare cause as all the monetary collections would be used for the welfare of the families of retired/martyred army personnel. He said that it is our collective duty to ensure rehabilitation and welfare of the dependents of our brace martyrs and disabled personnel. The Flag Day gives us an opportunity to contribute most generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, for those who resolutely defend the borders of our nation and render valuable services in case of natural calamities and war like situations, he added.

Deputy Commissioner also released a copy of the Special News Bulletin ‘Ranjodhe’ on the occasion which has detailed information regarding welfare schemes of department of Defense Services Welfare. He also handed over monetary help of Rs 10,000 each to eight ex-servicemen/dependent families from the collection of last year.

Lt. Col. Randhawa said that Patiala district has a legacy of 68 army martyrs who sacrificed their lives for manning the borders from the enemies since 1962 with adding that five of them sacrificed in the current year. He added that fund raising to the tune of Rs. 14 Lakh has been expected during the campaign whereas previous year, it was 6.42 Lakh.
