DEPUTY COMMISSIONERs ASKED TO MONITOR PENDENCY AT SEWA KENDRAS

Habitual delayers, demanding redundant documents & putting irrelevant objections will invite strict action, warns Governance Reforms Minister Aman Arora

  • Also directs DGR officials to convert all offline services to online mode

Chandigarh, April 3 :-

In a bid to ensure hassle-free services in stipulated time frame to the public at Sewa Kendras in the state, Punjab Governance Reforms & Public Grievances Minister Mr. Aman Arora on Saturday directed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to monitor pendency of services being provided at Sewa Kendras.

Presiding over a video conference meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners here at MGSIPA, Mr. Aman Arora asked the DCs to identify those officials, who are habitual in delaying services, demanded redundant documents and put irrelevant objections on files. He warned that strict action will be taken against such officials, who are creating obstructions in service delivery to the general public.

Asking the Department of Government Reforms (DGR) officials to convert all the offline services to online mode in the shortest span of time, the Cabinet Minister said that online services are empowering the common man by bringing transparency in the system. It also enables the weaker sections of society to benefit from the government’s various welfare policies and programmes.

Mr. Aman Arora asked all the DCs to send demand for required amenities for citizens at Sewa Kendras including drinking water, air conditioner, fans, waiting chairs etc., so that necessary funds shall be provided. Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is committed to ensure seamless delivery of services to public at their nearest place so that they do not have to face any hardship to avail benefits of government schemes and services.

Appreciating DCs of top performer districts i.e. Gurdaspur, Jalandhar and Mansa, Mr. Aman Arora said that other districts should also follow the measures taken by these districts to reduce and control the pendency. He also suggested them to take all necessary actions to reduce the pendency to zero.

Giving the presentation about Sewa Kendras, Principal Secretary DGR Mr. Tejveer Singh and Director DGR Mr. Girish Dayalan directed the Sewa Kendra staff to ensure that file should only be accepted when all the required documents are completed and checklist is properly filled. No incomplete file should be accepted. Mr. Tejveer Singh made it clear that the habitual delayer staff will be dealt severely as undue inconvenience to people will not be tolerated at any cost.
