District Legal Services Authority Organized Legal Awareness Rally

District Legal Services Authority, Barnala under the able guidance of Sh. Virinder Aggarwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Barnala organized a Legal Awareness Rally to celebrate Children Day. Hundreds of children of various schools of the area, along with Sh. Kumar Saurabh, Deputy Commissioner and Ms. Alka Meena, Senior Superintendent of Police, Judicial Officer, Police Officials and office bearers of Chemist Association of Barnala also participated in the rally. Children were carrying play cards in their hands in order to make the people aware about their Legal Rights under the Legal Services Authority Act 1987. Appeal was also to protect the environment, to protect girl child, to donate blood and to stop single use of plastic etc.

This programme was in series of programmes conducted to commemorate 75th Years of Independence of India and 25th Anniversary of establishment of NALSA. Legal Services Authority celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav alongwith PAN India Awareness and Outreach Programme which commenced from 2nd October to till date i.e. 14.11.2021.

Today, an awareness rally started from the Railway Station and went up to Civil Hospital Barnala and Children were divided into 2 groups. One group went to Sadar Bazar and another group went to Handiaya Bazar. Both the rallies culminated at District Court Complex, Barnala. Children were given the appreciation letters by Sh. Virinder Aggarwal, Worthy Chairman, DLSA Barnala. Along the route of the Legal Awareness Rally, all Chemist shops were provided with paper bags prepared by inmates of District Jail, Barnala. Chemist Association Barnala with the persuasion of DLSA Barnala has agreed to switch over from plastic bags to paper bags for their use while making delivery of medicine to their clients. Their president Sh. Narinder Arora has stated that nearly 400 Chemist shops in the District Barnala, would start using paper bags instead of plastic bags.

After that, a medical camp at District Jail, Barnala for the medical checkup of jail inmates was organized by DLSA, Barnala. During the camp, nearly 250 jail inmates were medically checked by Dr. Dewan Mittal (Medicine Specialist), Dr. Karan Chopra (Ortho Specialist), Dr. Gursimranjeet Singh (Eye Specialist) and Dr. Dinesh (Dental). At the same time jail inmates were made aware about their legal rights they were also made aware about Pro-Bono scheme that now a person can avail the services of panel lawyers of DLSA and can also avail the services of Senior Advocates in their cases at free of cost. Both advocates provide services at the same point of time.In the end, the Worthy Chairman, DLSA also requested litigants to come forward in large numbers to settle their disputes by way of amicable settlement in next National Lok Adalat to be held on 11th December, 2021.
