The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appreciated Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s announcement to make Punjabi University, Patiala debt-free. Senior AAP leader and spokesperson, Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia said that this decision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given hope to the youth of Punjab to get good higher education in Punjab. The government of Aam Aadmi Party will make all government universities of Punjab including Punjabi University debt-free and renovate them to make them world class.

Dr. Ahluwalia accused the previous Akali-BJP and Congress governments that they deliberately ruined government colleges and universities to promote private educational institutions so that the children of common and poor people could not get higher education. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government will ensure accessibility of higher education to everyone. It will create a good and equitable educational environment for the children of all, poor and rich, and will make the government educational institutions of Punjab better than the private ones.
He said that the previous governments burdened the teachers of schools and colleges with extra responsibilities like conducting census, surveys etc, which adversely affected the education quality and students. But now under Aam Aadmi Party government teachers will only be expected to teach, so that the syllabus of the students can be completed on time. Exams and results will be on time and students can get full attention and guidance from teachers. He thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for this decision and termed it as a revolutionary step in the education system of Punjab.
Dr. Ahluwalia said that the main objective of the AAP government is to improve the education and health system of Punjab. Aam Aadmi Party government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will provide ample opportunities for higher education and employment to the youth of Punjab in Punjab itself and will stop talent and brain drain from Punjab. In the coming years, the education system of Punjab will be so good that the students of Punjab will not need to go abroad, on the contrary a large number of foreign students will come to study in Punjab.
