TEACHERS SAY CHIEF MINISTER ACCORDED TOP PRIORITY TO EDUCATION

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday said that his government and people of the state would ever remain indebted to the teacher fraternity for their strenuous efforts which made Punjab number one in school education in the country.
Interacting with the teachers of the state in his thanksgiving virtual conference, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said that Punjab has been already scaling new heights in the field of education since 2017 and now it has been ranked first in the country which is the result of sheer hard work and commitment of teachers and administrators.
A district level function was held at Bachat Bhawan here today in which Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma was the chief guest. The function was also attended by PYDB Chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, PMIDB Chairman Amarjeet Singh Tikka, PLIDB Chairman Pawan Dewan, ADC (General) Amarjeet Bains, besides several others.
He appealed to them to continue to exhibit the same dedication and sincerity in the future to impart quality education to each student and told them that the state government is committed to ensuring that students from weaker and underprivileged sections of society are benefitted from the government policies.
Chief Minister also asked the education department to launch a program to introduce foreign language as an optional subject for the students of government schools emphasizing that such course would enable the students to compete globally by learning foreign languages and would help to shape their career.
Meanwhile, Karamjeet Kaur, principal, Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Sahnewal, expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister and said that distribution of smartphones among the students is one of historic decision of state government which enabled every student to attend online classes.
Preeti Batish, an English Lecturer from Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Senior Secondary Smart School said that good infrastructure and quality education in the government schools have prompted people to admit their wards there and it is because of the government, that enrollment has witnessed a multifold jump.
Manjeet Kaur, a Punjabi teacher in Government Model Secondary School, Cemetery road said that students in government schools have outnumbered private schools’ students and the state government has taken several initiatives which have made Punjab a front runner in the education field.
