THE NALAGARH CAFE THAT OFFERS FOOD IN RETURN FOR ONE TIME USE PLASTIC

Yes! That is true. You can get food from the Sanitation Cafe if you bring one kilograms of one time use plastic. It was started in Nalagarh, Solan, in Panchayat Radiyali. It was started by Rural Development Department. It was further informed by the BDO that the initiative was taken to make India clean on the birthday of NarendraModi, the respected Prime Minister Of India. This day was regarded auspicious enough to take such a step. It was further told that Jairam Thakur, the Chief Minister, inaugurated the cafe online given the situation of pandemic affecting the whole nation.

The step was taken in order to eliminate polythene and one time use plastic from our environment. This way the surroundings would get cleaner and people can buy food in exchange for plastic. The initiative is a part of Buybank Policy of the government.

Him Era: A Part Of The Cafe-

 

Another initiative along with the cafe includes a shop of Him Era wherein people from village community can sell the food items of basic needs with medicinal properties. This would include neem and basil. It would grant impetus to the females of a village who are unrecognized and yet brave. The commodities would be sold at a reasonable price.

The Utilisation Of An Old Building:

 

It was revealed that the building is an old one which was closed since ages. The government had started the Village HaatPolicy under which the villagers can sell their assets to the government which can then be used for overall development.

 

Training Of Local Women As Chefs:

 

Laxmi and Durga Self- Help Women Groupstook an initiative to include women in the functioning of the cafe. They were given professional training so they can serve delicious food to the customers. They claim the food to be healthy and homely.
