The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Saturday arrived at Khatkar Kalan on the eve of Independence Day and paid homage at the memorial of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and offered floral tributes. Recalling the sacrifices of the martyrs of independence, AAP MLA from Delhi, National Spokesperson and Punjab affairs co-incharge, Raghav Chadha said, “Today, touching the feet of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, I bow down to this holy land of Khatkar Kalan. I have come to seek guidance from the light of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the dream of a great India.”
On the occasion, Raghav Chadha questioned the political, economic and social situation of Punjab and the country and said what our governments have done to fulfill the dreams of these martyrs. “Today the youth of Punjab is unemployed. The ruling elites have ensnared the youth in drugs. The landlords of Punjab, the farmers of Punjab, the laborers of Punjab are forced to commit suicide. It has become difficult for the poor to live,” he said.
Chadha said the youth of the state were sitting on dharnas for jobs and the teachers who were to shape the future of Punjab were sitting on the streets for their rights. He said the realm of unemployment was that the young generation was going abroad to find work. “Today, our youth are carrying Rs 20 lakh to go abroad by mortgaging their lands and selling their mother’s jewelry,” he added.
Chadha said there is a need for another revolution to make Punjab prosperous again. He has dreamed of a Punjab in which no one is unemployed, children get good education, basic needs of everyone are met and peace and brotherhood prevail. Chadha said he was here today to take inspiration from Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and to appeal to the youth, “Together, let us break the shackles of this slavery of unemployment, corruption, opportunism and achieve true freedom. Let’s bring a revolution together and make Punjab prosperous.”
AAP MLAs Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Jai Singh Rodi, Amarjit Singh Sandoa with party leaders Shivkaran Chechi, Manohar Lal Gaba, Satnam Jalalpur, Satnam Jalwaha, Raj Kumar Mahal Khurd, Master Ram Kishan, Lalit Mohan Billu, Santosh Kataria, Balbir Karnana and Shiv Kaura among others were present on the occasion.
