Haryana State Biodiversity Board celebrated International Biodiversity Day

The aim is to create awareness regarding biodiversity among people

Chandigarh, May 22 :- Haryana State Biodiversity Board observed International Biodiversity Day with the aim of creating awareness among the people about the importance of biodiversity.

While giving information in this regard, the spokesperson said that International Day of Biodiversity is celebrated every year on May 22 to raise awareness about the significant reduction in biological diversity due to human activities.

Conservation of Bio-diversity is the need of the hour

He said that biodiversity is very important in our life. We have to create an environment which is rich in biodiversity, sustainable and can provide us opportunities for economic activities. Due to the lack of biodiversity, the risk of natural disasters increases further, so conservation of biodiversity is the need of the hour.

Online competitions conducted by the board

The spokesperson said that on May 13, 2022, various competitions were conducted like essay writing, quiz, painting and photography competitions. Students of the school and the general public participated enthusiastically.

Emphasis should be given on conservation of biodiversity and planting more trees

He said that all the award winners of various competitions participated in the Biodiversity Conservation Awareness Camp at Forest Complex, Pinjore and were introduced to different types of medicinal plants by visiting Mallah Park. Along with this they also visited Vulture Conservation and Breeding Centre, Jodhpur, Pinjore. During this the need to conserve biodiversity, plant more trees and save endangered species was stressed upon.

Cash prizes given to the winners of the competitions

For the first prize in quiz competition, Sohit received a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Karthik received Rs. 4000 in the second position and third position was bagged by Harsh and he also received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000.

Similarly, in the English essay competition, Neha was awarded Rs. 5000 for the first position, Dipanshi received Rs. 4000 for the second position and Sneha received Rs. 3000 for the third position. Apart from this, Dr. Chiranjibi has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 for the first position, Rs. 4,000 was awarded to Anshul on getting the second position and Rs. 3,000 to Naresh for bagging the third position in the common category essay competition.

The spokesperson informed that Manu, Vinita Singh, Muskan have been given cash prizes of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 3000 respectively in Hindi essay competition school category. Similarly, in the general category, Hoshiyar Singh, Reema Goyal, Praveen Kumar have been given a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 3,000  respectively.

The spokesperson said that in the photography competition, Rashmita has been given a cash prize of Rs. 5000, Parag Rs. 4,000 and Ashima Rs. 3,000. Similarly, in the painting competition Simran has been given a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Monalisha das Rs. 4,000, Sonia Rs. 3,000 and Piyush also received Rs. 3,000 as reward prize.
