Haryana’s girls ahead of boys in boxing

8 girls reach the finals compared to 5 boys

Chandigarh, June 13 – Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Panchkula is jam-packed with sports lovers on the last day of Khelo India Youth Games-2021, to watch the exciting boxing matches. The multipurpose hall looked like ‘mini Cuba’ where the final matches of 8 girls and 5 boys of Haryana were presently being held.

A large number of spectators were present, including technical officials associated with Boxing Federation of India, match referees from across the country, jury members, coaches and parents of the players. Children from many schools of Panchkula also enjoyed the match.

Competition for 80 medals – 20 Gold, 20 Silver and 40 Bronze

According to Haryana’s boys team coach, Rajbir Singh Ranga, the boxing competitions are scheduled for a total of 20 gold medals in different weight categories. He said that we are hopeful that Haryana will bag 10 gold medals.

He said that the inclination of the players of Haryana towards boxing has increased over the years. One player from each district is representing Haryana team. Boxing is a rough sport compared to others. Only players up to the age of 18 years can participate in the Khelo India Youth Games. He said that the coaches and sports academies play a pivotal role in grooming the player than that of the parents of the players. Today, the presence of parents of many players in this hall is showing that sportsmanship is imbued in them too.
