KARGIL SEPTEMBER 07, 2020: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan kick started the month long Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2020 at a function held in the premises of CDPO Office Kargil here today.
This is the 3rd Rashtriya Poshan Maah being celebrated to address the problem of malnutrition among women and young children.
Programme Officer ICDS Kargil Nargis Khatoon, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Kargil and Tai Suru Aga Syed Murtaza and Parveen Akhtar, other concerned officers. ICDS Supervisors and Anganwadi Workers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEC underlined the importance of Poshan Maah in encouraging the participation of the people in order to ensure health and nutrition for everyone and exhorted upon the officers concerned and the field functionaries to make strenuous efforts to reach people in every nook and corner of the district to spread awareness about eradicating malnutrition.
Pertinently, Poshan Maah is celebrated all over the country every year under POSHAN Abhiyaan which was launched by the Government in 2018.
The Abhiyaan targets to reduce stunting, under-nutrition and anaemia among young children, women and adolescent girls and reduce low birth weight.
POSHAN Abhiyaan also aims to ensure service delivery and interventions by use of technology and behavioural change through convergence and lays down specific targets to be achieved across different monitoring parameters.
