This vaccination drive was inaugurated by MC Councillor Mamta Ashu and ADC (Jagraon)-cum-Nodal Officer for Vaccination Dr Nayan Jassal at Urban Community Health Centre (UCHC) in Jawaddi, here today. Civil Surgeon Dr SP Singh was also present on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention that in view of the Omicron variant of Covid, Mamta Ashu and Dr Nayan Jassal had held a meeting with school principals on December 28, 2021. Both of them had urged the principals to motivate parents as well as the children to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest so that it helps to weed out Covid.

A large number of children were seen visiting this centre along with their parents for vaccination today.

Dr Nayan Jassal informed that as per government directions, only Covaxin is to be administered to the children. She said that once a child receives his/her first dose, they would be able to get their second dose after 28 days.

She said that healthcare and frontline workers and those above 60 years already having other ailments will be eligible for a booster shot, 9 months from the date of administering the second shot.

Mamta Ashu urged the parents to encourage their children for getting themselves vaccinated as vaccination helps in fighting the Covid, even if one gets infected. She said that in larger interest of the society and to ensure that our children stay safe, parents should get their children vaccinated at the earliest.

She said that to cover maximum children in age groups of 15-18 years, special counters/venues have been set up in the vaccination centres.

She further said that people, who are yet to receive their second dose of vaccination, should also come forward and get themselves fully vaccinated. She said that a large number of residents are yet to receive their second jab of Covid19 vaccination, because sadly, such people believe that the Covid19 has become thing of the past, which is not true. She said that everyone knows that with the new variant ‘Omicron’, people should not take Covid19 lightly and should get fully vaccinated by visiting their nearest centre.
