The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit hosted a captivating cultural program to commemorate the foundation day of Uttar Pradesh at Punjab Raj Bhawan.
On this occasion, he extended his heartfeltgreetings and best wishes to all the countrymen and specially the people of Uttar Pradesh.
The Governor said that no matter which state, which community, caste or creed we belong to, we are Indians first and it is necessary to make all sections of the society aware and spread the message of brotherhood.
He said that today’s celebrations have been heldunder the ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’ program and added that such celebrations play an important role in the promotion of national integration.
He also thanked the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi for conceptualizing this positive initiative to promote brotherhood and cultural bonding.
During the function, a colorful cultural program depicting the diverse culture of Uttar Pradesh was presented by the students of the college located in Sector 11 and 42, Chandigarh. The program started with Shri Ganesh Vandana followed by a mesmerizing presentation of Ram Bhajan, Kashi KeKabir and Ramayan Ki Chaupaiyan including folk music and dances of Uttar Pradesh which enthralled the guests present.
Prominent people present on the occasion included MLA, Dr. Vijay Singla, Mayor, M.C., Chandigarh, Mr. Anup Gupta, Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Satyapal Jain, AdditionalChief Secretary to the Governor of Punjab, Shri K. Siva Prasad IAS, Advisor to Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, Mr. Praveer Ranjan, Mr. Mr. Sanjay Tandon, Ex-President, BJP and other prominent citizens from Punjab and UT, Chandigarh.
