District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma today held a meeting with representatives of political parties regarding modifications in polling stations, at Bachat Bhawan, here. He was also accompanied by Deputy DEO Rahul Chaba, Election Tehsildar Anju Bala besides others.

During the meeting, the DEO-cum-DC briefed the representatives of political parties that some modifications have been made to the existing polling stations. He said that earlier, as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India, one polling station was to be made for 1200 voters, but now, a polling station would be made for 1250 voters.

He informed that 14 auxiliary polling stations have been set up in the district now, while modifications have been made in 62 polling stations and nomenclature of 133 polling stations have been changed as the names of some of the government schools were changed after they were upgraded by the government earlier. So names of these polling stations have also been changed.

Varinder Kumar Sharma informed that all the updated information related to polling stations have also been posted on official District Administration Ludhiana website, www.ludhiana.nic.in.

He assured the representatives of political parties that level playing field is being provided to all of them and urged them to follow all directions issued by the Election Commission of India.
