ICDS Mission Shakti Kargil celebrates Intl. Literacy Day at GMS, Trespone

In celebration of International Literacy Day, ICDS Mission Shakti Kargil, under the banner of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, organized an event at Government Middle School, Trespone, Kargil on Sunday.

The event aimed to promote literacy and the importance of education for all sections of society, with a particular focus on women and young children.The program began with an introduction of National Literacy Day and the role literacy plays in empowering individuals, societal growth, and advancing gender equality.

The speakers emphasized the need for education among young children, women, men, and other community members.Members of the Hub for Empowerment of Women Kargil, including District Coordinator Niyaz Hussain, Gender Specialist Amina Banoo, and Case Worker Sapoora Banoo, actively engaged with the school children through educational activities. They conducted sessions on education and curriculum, recited poems and rhymes, and created a lively atmosphere that encouraged participation from the students.

In addition to these activities, the team raised awareness among women about the importance of literacy and the role it plays in promotion of education within society. The program highlighted the essential contribution of women to the educational progress of their families and communities. The event concluded successfully leaving a positive impact on both the students and the broader community.
