240 MT oxygen coming every day

Chandigarh, May 20 – In its battle against Covid-19 Haryaya has almost overcome the problem of oxygen supplies by ensuring timely delivery of oxygen cylinders at the doorstep of the home of isolated patients.

The entire administrative machinery, under the constant vigil of Chief Minister Sh Manohar Lal,  has been on its toes to ensure that oxygen was available adequately enough to meet the needs of patients in hospital and home, alike.

As of today a provision of 13,949 oxygen beds has been made in the state besides the provision of 5,350 ventilators/ICU beds.

In addition, a total of 9896 oxygen cylinders have so far been delivered in the state against the request for 15,396. Officials however, found that 5473 requests for the oxygen cylinders were not in order.

A state-level control room has been in operation in Chandigarh round the clock to keep a watch on the supplies and requirements of oxygen coming from the districts while the Chief Minister has directed the officials to make sure that oxygen was available at the doorstep of the needy person.

At present, in Haryana around 240 MT of oxygen is coming daily from seven different locations in the country, nodal officers have been appointed to ensure that the tankers are evacuated timely and oxygen supplies reach the decided destination.

The state was initially granted a quota of 156 MT which, at the intervention of the Chief Minister was raised to 282 MT.

Six PSA (Pressure Swing Absorption) technology-based plants in Faridabad, Sonipat, Karnal, Ambala, Panchkula and Hisar are continuously producing oxygen gas in the capacity of 200 litres of oxygen per minute.

Meanwhile, the Centre has also approved 43 more PSA technology-based plants of which two plants will be set up in medical colleges and the other 41 plants would be set up in various districts. These plants will start production by the month of June. Each plant will produce 500 to 1000 litres of oxygen per minute.

For the treatment of COVID-19 patients in rural areas, 5 to 20 D-type Oxygen gas cylinders are being arranged at each community health centre.

In each district, a location for the filling of oxygen cylinders has been fixed. The Deputy Commissioners with the help of the Nodal Officer are continuously ensuring proper management required to be made at these cylinder refilling sites in their respective district.

The facility of Oxygen Mobile Bank has also been started in Karnal. 22 Industrial Plants located in 13 districts of the State are also providing oxygen to hospitals.

The state government has sought the cooperation of various charitable and voluntary organisations to join hands with the state government for riding over the crisis of oxygen availability.

The institutions are getting themselves registered on the www.oxygenhry.in portal. So far, 378 NGOs have been registered on this portal to supply oxygen cylinders.

While the facility of Oxygen Mobile Bank has also been started in Karnal. In the rest of the state 22 Industrial Plants located in 13 districts of the State are also providing oxygen to hospitals.
