237 slum dwellers accords proprietary rights in Lalru

Aiming to bring change in rural livelihoods, Senior Congress Leader Deepinder Singh Dhillon and Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia on Tuesday granted the SANADs of Five Marla plot to each of the 34 landless beneficiaries of Village Sarsini Block Dera Bassi and 11 beneficiaries of the other villages.
On this occasion Mr. Dhillon and Ms. Kalia said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has the firm resolve to provide the house to every family in the state. They called the program a landmark step towards holistic development of the villages. Under this program, Five Marla land will be granted to landless and homeless to build their houses. Ms. Kalia added that the main beneficiary under this scheme is poor people who don’t have any type of land or house in their name or any family member’s name. She said that the Gram Panchyat officials have the onus to identify the correct beneficiary under this scheme.
Meanwhile 237 slum dwellers in Lalru got the proprietary rights under the state government’s Slum Development Scheme ‘Basera’.  Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Pooja Grewal informed that a survey is already underway in various parts of the city to identify more eligible families.
Amongst others who were present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, DDPO Sukhchain Singh Papra, BDPO Parneet Kaur and others.
