A function was held today at the local police line to pay homage to the police martyrs on the Police Commemoration Day. Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sonali Giri, SSP Mr. Vivek S. Soni, CJM Mr. Amanpreet Singh including District Attorney Officer Bhupinder laid wreaths at the martyr’s memorial.

Under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Rupinderdeep Kaur Sohi, the police team reversed its arms and paid tribute to police martyrs. A 2-minute silence was also observed. The Superintendent of Police, (Hq.), Rupnagar Mr. Ankur Gupta, IPS read the names of 377 jawans who were martyred across the country from 01.09.2020 to 31.08.2021.
Paying homage to the martyrs of the police, S. S. P. Mr. Vivek S. Soni said that these martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the integrity of the country and humanity will always be remembered, said the SSP.
He also said that an awareness campaign is being launched till October 31 to commemorate the martyrs of the police.
During the function, the families of 40 police personnel who were martyred in the Rupnagar district were also felicitated by the Deputy Commissioner and SSP, and their personal grievances were also addressed.
On this occasion, the services rendered by the police personnel during Covid-19 were especially appreciated and the police personnel who lost their lives during the pandemic were also commemorated.
Among others, S.P. (I) Ajinder Singh, DSP Shri Chand Singh, DSP Virenderjit Singh, DSP Ucee Chawla, DSP Davinder Singh, DSP Raminder Singh, District Home Guard Commander Sukhbir Singh, Retired PRO Shri Rajinder Saini, Medical Officer Police Dr. Parminder Singh were also present on the occasion.
