(Bikram S Majithia) urges central govt to take up the issue with US Authorities on urgent basis: Bikram Singh Majithia

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Sikh leaders of the United States as well as BJP leaders to take up the issue of tossing of Turbans of Sikh youth in dustbins during deportations from the US and said this was a serious issue which needed to be addressed on an urgent basis.
In a statement here, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia said it was shocking to learn that Turbans of Sikh Youth were tossed and were thrown in dustbins by US Police officials while making them board US Airforce flights for India. He said this was a serious human rights violation.
Mr Majithia further said that not only this but vegetarian youth were forced to eat beef during their detention which was also a serious violation. He said what to talk of these youth being handcuffed and shackled, they were forced to endure inhumane treatment throughout their journey and this disgraceful act demanded immediate global condemnation.
He asked Sikh leaders from the BJP whether they would raise this issue with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and whether the Prime Minister would take this up with US President Donald Trump whom he claimed as a good friend.
He also asked those Sikh leaders of USA who had voted for Donald Trump take up this issue with him. He said India could not remain silent to humiliation with their citizens abroad. “The country must stand up for the dignity and rights of its citizens”, he added.
