While asserting that peace and harmony will be maintained at any cost in SAS Nagar, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Aashika Jain said that in view of the problems faced by the people, especially by the Sangat who come to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Singh Shaheedah Sohana, the dharna outside Gurudwara has been detached.
Talking to reporters on the spot after detaching the dharna from outside the Gurdwara Sahib, the Deputy Commissioner said that due to the dharna, the sangat coming to pay obeisance at the Gurdwara Sahib were also facing lot of problems besides the people traveling on this road. Due to the dharna, conflicts with the people started to arise with the agitators. Because of this, the members of the village panchayats and other citizens of the city requested the administration to solve this problem. So the dharna has been detached to prevent any possible conflict between the agitators and the Sangat/common people. She said that no one will be allowed to break the peace of the city.
In response to a question, Ms. Aashika Jain said that traffic has been opened on all the roads in the city at present and none of the road in Mohali is closed. The Deputy Commissioner said that the situation in the city is completely peaceful and normal. Despite this, the police is keeping a close watch to prevent any untoward incidents. Mrs. Aashika Jain also sought the cooperation of the people to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, SSP of the district Dr. Sandeep Garg said that during the dharna, attempts were being made by some people to break the peace. Complaints were received from the Sangat and the members of the panchayats. That is why the the dharna had been removed in view of the restoration of peace. Urging people to avoid rumours, Dr. Garg said that all kinds of sufficient information is being shared by the police administration. In response to a question, he said that some people, including policemen, were injured during the protest and they are undergoing medical examination. About 25 persons have been arrested in this connection.
