Chandigarh/Malerkotla, December 28 :-

Following the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s ‘zero tolerance policy’ against corruption, Markfed Chairman Amandeep Singh Mohi on Wednesday conducted a surprise raid at Laxmi Rice Mill, Ahmadgarh at Malerkotla after receiving a complaint of violation of rules against the mill.

During a physical inspection at Laxmi Rice Mill, markfed’s flying squad led by chairman Amandeep Singh Mohi found 804 undeclared bags of rice and found 253 rice bags short in the record. Apart from this, 9 wagons (carts, 580×9 bags) of rice were kept in the mill.

Amandeep Mohi said that action has been initiated  against sheller for violating the prescribed. He added that the undeclared broken rice bags, which were being sold to the government by shellers mixed with rice, were handed over to them under Clause No. 1 of the Paddy Policy. Action will be taken in accordance with sub-class V of 9.

Chairman Mohi said that the Mann government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against corruption since it formed the government in Punjab. Markfed is also committed to deliver a efficient and transparent system. He reprimanded rice millers to avoid any kind of corruption and adulteration.

He said that appropriate action would be taken against Laxmi Rice Mill and a departmental inquiry has also been launched and stern action will be initiated for violating the norms against firm.
