Mrs Razia Sultana the Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation and Transportation hoisted tricolor on the occasion of 74th Independence Day at Barnala today. Addressing the gathering during I Day celebrations held at District Administrative Complex, Mrs Razia Sultana said that due to concerted efforts of Punjab government, the state was giving tough fight to corona infection. She called upon people to follow government guidelines and ensure that the state emerges victorious in this fight against the spread of infection.
She said that keeping in view difficulties people were facing due to the infection, the government has taken elaborate steps of setting up laboratories, fastening the pace of testing, setting up proper health facilities, distributing smartphones to the government school students enabling their online studies etc. She added that even during amidst the spread of infection, government continues to impart its services uninterrupted to the people of Punjab and is committed to continue with the same zeal.
Earlier, after hoisting the tricolor, she paid rich tributes to founder of Indian constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar by offering floral tributes to statue with DC Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka and SSP Mr Sandeep Goyal. She also distributed wheelchairs and sewing machines to the poor and needy. Various government employees were honoured for their services. Those among honoured included Assistant Commissioner (G) Ashok Kumar, SP (H) Harwant Kaur, APRO Jagbeer Kaur, assistant director youth services Rajeev Bhaskar, EO Nagar council Barnala Manpreet Singh, Sub Division Engineer Chamak Singla, RMO Dr Tinku Sharma, RMO Dr Navjot Singh, MO Dr Manpreet S Sidhu, epidemiologist Dr Armandeep Singh, Dr Munish Kumar, Dr Kavita Monga. Students who have secured more than 98.22 percent marks in class +2 exams were also honoured including Amanjot Kaur, Harpreet Kaur, Sukhjeet Kaur and Priyanka Rani. Besides this, other employees of various departments, who had performed their duties diligently will be honoured by their respective heads of department.
The chief guest Mrs Razia Sultana also inaugurated specially raised Martyrs’ Gallery at District Administrative. An initiative of DC Barnala Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka, the gallery has pictures and details of all the martyrs of district Barnala from 1947 till date. It has been done by the team of Guardians of Governance.
Later, the chief guest also inaugurated newly upgraded Government Senior Secondary Self Made Smart School at village Sukhpur. She lauded the efforts of education department in setting up smart school infrastructure at this school.
