–15 SHGS OF THE BARNALA ARE MAKING MASKS
–20000 MASKS ALREADY DISTRIBUTED FREE OF COST, DC

In order to safeguard people of district from the corona virus infection, the Government of Punjab under its Mission Fateh project aims at distributing 40000 masks in public and at the same time provide employment opportunity to the Self Help Groups (SHGs) for making these masks. 20000 of these have already been distributed.
Deputy Commissioner Mr Barnala Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that 15 SHGs of the district have been given work of preparing 40000 masks. 20000 of these re-usable masks have already been distributed amongst the public, which has Mission Fateh logo affixed on them. Under the second phase, 20000 more masks are being made.
He added that these re-usable masks are being distributed amongst the needy wherein the volunteers of Youth Services department has been distributing them. Volunteers are distributing the same in all rural and urban areas of the district. Masks have also been distributed during job fair (rozgar mela) and by the department of food supply to the needy.
ADC (D) Mr Arun Jindal said that these SHGs are contributing towards fighting against infection in their own way. Earlier, these groups have tailored aprons, cloth made and paper made hand bags, tree guards etc and are helping the district administration.
District Functional Manager Amandeep Singh said that the 15 groups that have been entrusted this work includes village Theekriwal’s Aulakh group, Mata Ganga Ji, Guru Ravidas Ji, Bibi Bhani Ji, Jodhpur’s Baba Himmat Group, Baba Vishawkarma Ji, Badbar’s Baba Balmiki, Baba Attar Singh, Mata Sahib Kaur, Mata Gujri Ji, Guru Amardass Ji, Maur Nabha’s Bhagat Ravidass Group, Mata Gujri Ji and Bhotna’s Bibi Nanki and Happy Chauhan Self Help Groups. Babbar’s Baba Balmiki Group’s member Harjinder Kaur said that her group has made thousands of masks under Mission Fateh. She feels proud to have contributed in fight against corona.
