Mountain Agriculture Research and Extension Station Kargil, SKUAST-K today organized a training-cum-seed distribution program at Garkhon Village.
A large number of farmers and village representatives participated in the program.
Assistant Professor Gyalson briefed the gathering about the training and requested the farmers to take the benefit of the program.
Dr Rinchan Dolkar interacted with farmers of the village regarding the issues in vegetable cultivation and the way out to manage the problem like the management of aphids, onion maggots and cabbage butterflies.
Dr Faizan Chief Scientist/Incharge Mountain Agriculture Research and Extension Station, Kargil in his address motivated the farmers to become progressive in vegetable cultivation and increase the production of vegetables which will enhance the livelihood of farmers.
He stressed the importance of quality seeds which will add the production per unit area and further. He also assured to arrange an exposure tour for farmers to Kargil next year.
High-quality seeds of vegetables like onion, tomato, beans, palak, pea and radish were distributed among the farmers free of cost and promised to hand over black polyethylene mulch to each farmer from the office.
In the end, the village representative expressed gratitude to Dr Faizan on behalf of the farmers for conducting training and free seed distribution every year.
