Jaipur, August 25 :-
The Rajasthan government has failed to give satisfactory answers to the queries raised by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), before and during the two-day state-level review meeting at Jaipur, the NCSC Chairman Vijay Sampla said on Thursday.
While concluding the two-day state review meeting on Thursday, Sampla further said that the NCSC had sought information regarding action taken reports in the cases of atrocities against the Scheduled Caste people, development schemes for them and various other crucial matters, but the Rajasthan government’s replies were unsatisfactory.
“Besides, the Rajasthan government also failed to provide the concrete information of beneficiaries to the NCSC regarding the implementation of various schemes for economic and social welfare of scheduled castes, centrally sponsored schemes, central sector schemes, and state government’s schemes regarding housing land, employment, scholarships and others”, Sampla said.
The NCSC Commission, led by chairman Vijay Sampla, conducted the meeting with the minister of social justice and empowerment, chief secretary, director general of police (DGP), principal secretaries and other senior officers of the ministries and departments of Rajasthan Government. NCSC vice Charmian Arun Halder, commission members Subhash Ramnath Pardhi and Anju Bala, and other senior officers of the commission were also present in the meeting.
On August 24, the NCSC delegation met scheduled castes members of parliament (MPs), members of legislative assembly (MLAs) and Ex-MPs/MLAs, followed by a meeting with representatives of Scheduled castes Welfare Associations and NGOs.
However, on Thursday, Vijay Sampla and NCSC officials reviewed the cases of atrocities against the SC community, which were registered and disposed of by the police or court under SC/ST Act. NCSC also reviewed payment of compensation and additional assistance to victims, as well as other provisions available as per law.
After reviewing the cases, Sampla further said, “It was noticed that the Rajasthan police and district administrations do not take appropriate action against the culprits and accused in the cases of atrocities, until the intervention of NCSC. The government must provide justice and socio-economic benefits to the SC people in their state.”
