Plasma Bank will Play Significant Role In Treating Critically ill patients of Corona: Soni

Continuing Punjab Government’s campaign Mission Fateh to combat covid-19 under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Medical Education and Research, Minister Punjab Mr. O. P. Soni today formally inaugurated State’s First And Country’s Second Plasma Bank after Delhi at Government Medical College/Rajindra Hospital, Patiala through video conferencing.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Soni said that Plasma Bank will play a vital role in the fight against this pandemic. He said that this Plasma Bank established in Punjab will prove a milestone.
Mr. Soni said that various trials of plasma therapy have been successfully conducted earlier in the state, which paved the way for the establishment of Plasma Bank.
He said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh is making all possible efforts to minimize the deaths, which is occurring due to Covid .
Giving information about the newly established plasma bank, he said that it is equipped with two plasma machines and a third machine would be introduced soon. “We have no shortage of testing kits for antibody testing and latest testing equipment will be available soon,” he added.
He appealed all the recovered Covid patients to come forward to donate plasma and said that this initiative would be successful only with their support.
Member Parliament, Patiala Mrs. Preneet Kaur specially attended the inaugural function through video conference.
On this occasion Principal Secretary of the department Mr. D.K. Tewari said that Rajindra Hospital has a 600 bed isolation facility for Covid patients with 100 percent oxygen supply to each bed, besides 54 ventilators for critically ill patients. He said that the number of ventilators would reach 100 in the coming days.
