Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that the poorest of the poor should first get the benefit of government welfare schemes. Officers should consider it their responsibility to provide benefits of the schemes to those people from the society who are illiterate and are ignorant about the schemes. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the officers in a meeting held at Amarkantak today.

Governor Shri Patel said that every officer should perform their best daily and inspire others also to do good work. Every officer should be sensitive to the needs of the poor and have a sense of service to the poor. During the Corona period, doctors and other officers of the state worked with dedication and devotion. Many doctors, officers and employees sacrificed their lives while serving the people. Seeking information about the situation of Corona in Anuppur district, Governor Shri Patel said that it should be ensured that the families of officers and employees who died due to Corona should get the benefits of Corona Warrior Programme and Compassionate Appointment Scheme on priority.

Governor Shri Patel said that everyone has done a good job collectively for Corona prevention in Madhya Pradesh and I am proud of this. He said that efforts should also be made in the tribal areas to prevent the dreaded disease like Sickle Cell. Governor Shri Patel said that there is a need to make people aware about Sickle Cell disease. For this, continuous efforts should be made in rural areas.

Governor Shri Patel sought information from the officials regarding the efforts being made to prevent Sickle Cell in Anuppur district. Chief Medical and Health Officer Anuppur said that about 77 thousand people have been surveyed for Sickle Cell disease in the district, in which about 13 thousand people have been found to be positive and 1200 are patients. Patients are being treated continuously and the Sickle Cell disease survey is also eing conducted. Free medicines are being provided to people suffering from the disease and they facilities for blood transfusion is also being made available.

Governor Shri Patel also directed to seek guidance and services of country’s medical experts to prevent Sickle Cell disease, besides organizing conferences and workshops to create awareness among people about the disease. Collector Anuppur Sushri Sonia Meena informed that in Anuppur district, more than 4 lakh 90 thousand persons have been vaccinated against Corona in the first phase. He said that vaccination is being done at a rapid pace in the district. The work of Phase II vaccination is also in progress. The Collector also apprised Governor Shri Patel about the progress of setting up oxygen plant in Anuppur district.
