Chandigarh, January 11 – Haryana Public Health and Cooperative Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal said that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s Jal Jeevan Mission will be given priority and concrete steps will be taken to provide clean drinking water by connecting people through this campaign.

The Minister of Public Health and Cooperation was interacting with the officers of the Public Health Department here today. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Sh. AK Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. Shailender Singh, Sh. Devendra Singh and other officers were present.

He said that providing clean drinking water to every household is an important responsibility of the department. Special work will be done to ensure that adequate drinking water facilities are available, especially in dhanis.

Dr. Banwari Lal said that if the public gets clean drinking water, then people will not suffer from water-borne diseases and a huge budget will be saved for health expenditure. If the people remain healthy then the economy of the country will also be robust. He said that the works of the ongoing Public Health Department in the state will be expedited. Effective steps will be taken to provide drinking water to the people as per the prescribed norms. Meaningful efforts will be made to ensure drinking water supply of 55 liters per person per day in rural areas and 100 liters per person per day in urban areas.

The Public Health Minister said that for testing clean drinking water, testing kits have also been provided to the women of the Gram Sabha at the village level. Apart from this, a state level testing lab has been set up in Karnal. He added that the drinking water testing will be increased due to which the quality of water will improve. He said that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 30.96 lakh drinking water connections have been issued and more than 14 lakh water samples have been taken.

Dr. Banwari Lal has expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal for giving him independent charge of the Public Health and Engineering Department. He stated that the department’s operational procedures and effectiveness would be enhanced.
