The Earth is full of innumerable species of plants. There is no way we can find and identify each one of them. The plants are a major part of our ecosystem as they help get rid of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and provides us with plenty of oxygen. With the advancement of technology, we are attaining new heights. The scientists have started exploring areas which were earlier inaccessible to us. During that time the scientists came across several new species of plants. Some plants have a weird and strange appearance which makes them feel like they have come from another planet. Here are some of those strange plants which you might not have seen before-
1. Hydnora Africana (A Beetle Trap)- The only place you can find this plant is in South Africa. This plant has a weird appearance. Most of the plant grows underground and only the flower is visible on the surface. To promote pollination, the flowers do a weird trick. They produce a smell attractive to insects. Once the insects sit down on the flower, they get trapped. After a while the flower releases them along with pollens.
2. Lithops (Pebble Plants Or Living Stones)- These plants appear exactly like stones. You can not make out the plant easily. They have this appearance to keep them safe from predators. They have several species which grow different colour of flowers ranging from yellow to blue.
3. Rafflesia Arnoldii (The Biggest Flower In The World)- Found in Indonesia, this plant can weigh up to 11kgs. It is long in width and height which makes it the biggest flower in the world. The flower releases an extremely foul smell which makes it attractive to insects for pollination. You can find this flower growing on roots of trees from where it absorbs all the needed nutrition to help it grow.
