Pragati & Saksham scholarship schemes prove boon for bright and needy girl students pursuing techinical degree and diploma courses

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched Pragati Scholarship for the girls pursuing technical degree or diploma course in AICTE approved colleges and institutes to encourage and support the meritorious girl students. This was disclosed by the Technical Education Minister Dr. Ram Lal Markanda here today. He said that maximum 2 girls of a family are eligible for this scholarship. AICTE has allotted 100 scholarships to the State of Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Ram Lal Markanda said that AICTE has also launched Saksham scholarship scheme to the specially abled students, who are 40% handicapped or above and pursuing technical degree or diploma courses in AICTE approved colleges and institutions. The upper limit of family income for claiming these scholarships is up to Rs. 8 lakh. An amount of Rs. 50,000 per year is given to the beneficiary under these schemes, he added.
He said that under Pragati scholarship scheme an amount of Rs. 50 lakh has been awarded to 49 girl students pursuing technical degree and 51 girl students of diploma course during the year 2020-21. Similarly, Saksham scholarship has been awarded to one student pursuing technical degree and four students of diploma course to the tune of Rs. 2.50 lakh during the year 2020-21.
The Technical Education minister congratulated the awardees and their parents and lauded the efforts of the department for getting 100% allocation of stipulated quota under these scholarship schemes as this would go a long way to support women empowerment and would help the bright and needy girl students under various degree and diploma courses.
