Barnala residents get zero power bill, thank Punjab government

Under the stewardship of Chief Minister Punjab Mr Bhagwant the Punjab government has fulfilled its promise of providing free power to people of Punjab. Punjab government has provided 300 units free power per month to it’s consumers. Consequently a large number of people in Barnala have got zero power bill this month.
 The cabinet minister Punjab Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer stated this in a statement issued here today. He added the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Pspcl) is providing 600 units of free power bimonthly for which a notification was issued in the month of July.
It entails granting free 600 units of electricity bimonthly / 300 units of electricity monthly for all domestic consumers, using electricity for residential purpose only (excluding all the other consumers covered under Schedule of Tariff for Domestic Supply viz Government Hospitals/Government Dispensaries, all places of worship, Government Sports Institutions, Sainik Rest Houses, Government/Government Aided Educational Institutions & attached hostels). This concession has already came into effect from July 1, 2022.
As per the notification, in case of Bimonthly Consumption up to 600 units/Monthly Consumption up to 300 units, there would be Zero Bill for all domestic consumers using electricity for residential purpose only i.e. no energy charges, fixed charges, meter rent and Govt. levies/taxes shall be charged to these consumers. He added that around 22 lakh power consumers in the state have been benefited with this.
Sarabjit Kaur, resident of Sekha Road, street number 5 Barnala said that this time she has got power bill with zero mentioned in billing section. Similarly Jagga Singh resident of ward number 19 Barnala has got a zero bill.Surjit Kaur from street number 5 Barnala thanked the Punjab government for not charging them for power consumption. She said that the money saved from power will go towards better education of her children.
Similarly, Simarjit kaur and Kanwaljit Kaur frrom Gali no.5 thanked the government stating that the money saved from power bill has acted as a supplementary source of income.
Gurdeep Singh, Prem Nagar, Dhanaula road, too has got zero bill.
