Rana Sodhi cheers up Indian Olympics Contingent virtually with the motto ‘Come on India’

In an initiative to boost their morale, Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on friday cheered up the Indian contingent participating in Tokyo Olympics 2020 through virtually from Sector-78 Sports Stadium here along with Secretary Sports Raj Kamal Chaudhary, Joint Secretary Sports Kartar Singh and others.
Rana Sodhi urged the public to create messages and videos for kind gesture to boost the morale of the Indian athletes in the Tokyo Olympics. On the line of Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, he also requested people to shoot a video with their friends and family to encourage entire Indian contingent. “We want to encourage and motivate our athletes participating in Tokyo Olympics so that they know that the entire nation with them. ‘’We want to tell players that every individual of the country is with them in this hour,” Sodhi added.
The Cabinet Minister informed that 40 percent players of Indian Contingent are hailing from Punjab and Haryana and both the sates are the major contributor. he reiterated the promises being made by Punjab Government that gold winners at the Olympics would get Rs.2.25 crore as prize money, Silver winners Rs.1.5 crore, while those bagging Bronze would be richer by Rs.1 crore along with government jobs. ”We are expecting maximum podium finishes from Punjab with Hockey as the leading contender because the half of National hockey squad is expected to feature players from the State,” he said claiming that the new sports policy of the state has proved extremely beneficial for budding players to ensure every facility ranging from the expert coaching staff from abroad besides state of the art equipment.
However this voice of “Come on India’’ was further reverberated in every district of the state, where similar kind of functions have been conducted to show the strength of unity with our sportspersons.
