(Dr Daljit S Cheema says it was now clear that the AAP govt was part of the conspiracy to finish off the moderate Akali leadership)

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema today said chief minister Bhagwant Mann had initiated a cover up operation to hide the conspiracy behind the murderous attack on S Sukhbir Singh Badal by a Babbar Khalsa International operative by registering a false FIR which termed the attack as a sudden one from a member of the ‘sangat’ and even belittling the entire episode as a “hawai fire”.
Rejecting the FIR as a devious operation which sought to hide the role of Punjab Police officers who shepherded the attacker, Dr Daljit Cheema said “it is now clear that the AAP government is part of the conspiracy to finish off the moderate Sikh leadership. In fact the chief minister is now working overtime to ensure the deep rooted conspiracy behind the attack of S Sukhbir Singh Badal which sought to eliminate the latter does not see the light of day”.
Demanding an impartial probe supervised by the high court, Dr Cheema said “all the misgivings expressed by senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a series of press conferences are proving to be true. Mr Majithia had detailed how Superintendent of Police Harpal Singh Randhawa had met and greeted the attacker and even held a discussion with the latter in the Sri Darbar Sahib complex on December 3. It was also made clear through CCTV camera footage that the attacker – Narayan Singh Chaura had done a complete recee of the gurdwara complex for three days before attacking Mr Sukhbir Badal on the last day with a semi automatic 9 mm pistol. To call this attack as a sudden one from a member of the ‘sangat’ is a travesty of justice”.
Dr Cheema also highlighted how the Amritsar police and its Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar had worked overtime after the attack to give an impression that it was stage-managed with the purpose of evoking sympathy for Mr Badal. “Even though all these claims have been rebutted and have proven to be false, the AAP government is now depicting a history sheeter who has a record of anti-national activities as a member of the ‘sangat’. No member of any ‘sangat’ can commit such a heinous act and this portrayal of the Sikh sangat by the AAP government is condemnable”.
The Akali leader made it clear that the SAD would not take this lying down. “We will pursue all options at our disposal to expose this conspiracy”, he added. EOM
