The Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur warned all the doctors including senior medical officers posted in the government health institutions of the district that if any doctor was found having a private practice, strict departmental action would be taken against them. Addressing the doctors at the district hospital, the civil surgeon said that conducting private practice by a government doctor is against the departmental rules. The civil surgeon said, “Government doctors in the district have to do either government jobs or private practice. There is no doubt that the government doctors are providing health care services with utmost diligence and dedication but it does not justify the private practice by them.” She said that it is natural that any government doctor who has a private practice will not be able to devote much time and energy to his government work.

Dr Adarshpal said that the Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Vijay Singla has strictly instructed that government doctors doing private practice must not be spared at any cost as such doctors do not do justice to the patients coming to the government hospitals as well as to their sacred profession. She said that it is the duty of the government doctor to give full time to the patients and treat them with utmost seriousness and humility. She also directed the heads of every government health institute to ensure all doctors in their jurisdiction did not have a private practice and they must take departmental action at their level if any such case comes to their notice and immediately bring it to the notice of the higher authorities.
