The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision on the Chandigarh Mayor election’s case. The party thanked the Supreme Court for giving this historic decision declaring its candidate Kuldeep Kumar as Mayor and said that this decision has truly marked the victory of democracy.

On Tuesday, AAP Chandigarh co-in-charge Dr Sunny Ahluwalia held a joint press conference with Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky and new AAP Mayor Kuldeep Kumar at the Chandigarh party headquarters.

Addressing the media, Dr. Ahluwalia said that the Bharatiya Janata Party tried every trick to make their mayor in Chandigarh. They tried every trick in their book, but the Supreme Court thwarted their evil intentions.

He said that the BJP did not even want the mayor’s election because they knew that Congress and Aam Aadmi Party had 20 councilors and they had only 15. After many obstacles the election was finally scheduled for the 18th January. Then just before the election their presiding officer fell ill and the election was postponed indefinitely.

Then we had to go to the High Court for the election. The High Court fixed the 30th January as election date, but the BJP had hatched a conspiracy to rig the elections. Anil Masih, the presiding officer appointed by BJP, deliberately cancelled our eight votes and declared the BJP’s mayor candidate victorious. But today the Supreme Court has done justice. This decision of the court is going to strengthen our democracy.

Ahluwalia accused former BJP mayor Asha Jaiswal of horse trading.* He said that Asha Jaiswal tried to buy our councilor Damanpreet Singh. Ahluwalia also showed the media the video in which Asha Jaiswal was giving financial inducement to Damanpreet to join the BJP. Ahluwalia said that Asha Jaiswal also got her son to talk to Damanpreet Singh and said that she will fix his meeting with the national level leader of BJP.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Chandigarh unit, on Wednesday, held a candle march in Maloya against rigging in the Chandigarh mayoral election on January 30th.

The AAP leaders called the Bharatiya Janata Party ‘vote chor’ party and said that they are against the democracy and constitution. They win every election by stealing votes and this time their working style and winning formula was recorded in a camera when their presiding officer was caught tampering with the ballot papers red handedly.

AAP Chandigarh co-in-charge Dr Sunny Ahluwalia said that we are fighting to save our democracy and fair elections are the responsibility of every political party but the BJP is working to eradicate the whole election process. He further added that the people of our country will never tolerate a dictatorial party like the BJP and they will face defeat in the upcoming general elections. The AAP leader said that they will keep fighting until they free the country from the clutches of the dictatorial BJP.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is continuously protesting in Chandigarh against the rigging in the Mayor elections. The hunger strike by the party leaders continued for the third day. In the hunger strike, one councilor and four workers of the party sit on fast for 24 hours every day.

During the demonstration on Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party Chandigarh co-in-charge Dr Sunny Ahluwalia addressed the media. Showing the inside video to the media during the Chandigarh Mayor election, he said that this video has made it clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party is a vote-chor party. They win elections by stealing votes and by rigging and hooliganism.

He said that Anil Masih has only completed the work he was assigned. The real conspirator of it all is someone else. Action should be taken against them also. He said that it was clear from Anil Masih’s expression that he had received orders from above.

In the video shown to the media by Ahluwalia, Anil Masih was seen tampering with the ballot papers of Aam Aadmi Party and Congress councilors in front of the camera. He was also looking towards the camera in a state of doubt from time to time. At the same time, many nominated councilors of BJP were removing the cameramen of various media channels present there and stopping them from coming inside.

Ahluwalia said that this time they are caught red handed. Now they cannot escape. The Supreme Court has also accepted that the BJP murdered democracy in the Chandigarh Mayor election. Now the Supreme Court will take action against their hooliganism.

He said that this time we will teach a lesson to the BJP. Aam Aadmi Party is a party born out of a movement. We will not tolerate bullying. Now we have decided that we will continue our hunger strike and protests until the new mayor of Chandigarh, who was appointed by BJP in a rigged election, is removed.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chandigarh, on Monday, again protested against the rigging in the Mayor election and said that they will continue their hunger strike and protest until justice is delivered in this matter.

Chandigarh police once again used force against the peacefully protesting AAP workers and detained AAP leaders to end the demonstration. AAP Chandigarh co-in-charge Dr Sunny Ahluwalia said that they cannot intimidate us or stop us from fighting for our democracy and constitution.

He added that we have requested the administration that only our 5 people (four volunteers and one councilor) who will be observing hunger strike will sit in front of Municipal Corporation Bhawan in Sector 17. Because of cold weather we set up a tent and mats for demonstrating workers but the police are not even allowing five people to sit there. They have sent hundred people to stop us from protesting because they know we will win. We are a party born out of a movement so they know we are unstoppable until we achieve our goal, which is to remove the fraud mayor of the BJP and conduct a fair re-election. Dr Ahluwalia said that no matter the struggle, the hunger strike and protest will go on.

Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress protested outside Sector-17 police station of Chandigarh against rigging in the Mayor elections. Leaders of both the parties demanded Chandigarh Police to register a case against Anil Masih, the presiding officer appointed for the mayor elections.

In their statements given to various media channels during the protest, councilors and leaders of both the parties accused the BJP of rigging the mayor elections and said that Presiding Officer Anil Masih deliberately canceled the votes of eight of our councilors so that the BJP could make their mayor. 30 January 2024 was the darkest day in the history of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

The Aam Aadmi Party Chandigarh co-in-charge Dr Sunny Ahluwalia met the SHO at Sector-17 police station to register a case against Presiding Officer Anil Masih and handed him videos and other objectionable materials related to rigging in the Mayor elections. He also met Chandigarh SSP in this regard and demanded immediate action against Anil Masih.

Addressing the media, Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia said that today the BJP is the biggest threat to our country’s democracy. He said that as per the strategy, BJP managed all the officials related to the mayor election and made its mayor by rigging the election in broad daylight.

He said that all the councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have given an affidavit in the High Court that we voted for Kuldeep Kumar Tita as the mayor. He said that we will continue our fight until the wrongfully appointed mayor steps down.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Chandigarh Corporation Administration on this matter and sought its reply. The court has ordered the Chandigarh administration to file its reply within three weeks. The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have appealed to the High Court to hold fresh mayoral elections.

Youth Congress leaders also protested outside the office of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. There was also a clash between Congress workers and the police during the demonstration. The police also detained many Congress workers including Chandigarh Youth Congress President Manoj Lubana.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hit back at the statements of the opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa and dubbed him as Partap ‘Bhajpa’ as his anti-Punjab stand has once again been exposed.

Addressing a press conference at the party office on Tuesday, chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that that on one hand the national leaders of the Congress talk about joining the country and strengthening the federal structure, on the other hand Pratap Singh Bajwa is favoring the Governor. Perhaps, he has forgotten that the BJP misused the office of the Governor and toppled the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka or did not allow the government to form despite having a majority.

Kang said that Bajwa should have taken stand for Punjab but after hearing his speech, even the spokesperson of BJP would have felt ashamed.Kang further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had not only gone to Hoshiarpur to close the toll plaza, but also exposed the anti-people stand of previous governments and how they caused Rs 300 crore loss to the common people in past 10 years.

He said that toll plaza supposed to be closed in 2013, and they were fined 60 crores for violation. The Akali-BJP government not only waived their fine but also extended the toll contract along with a subsidy of Rs 49 crore. During this time, Pratap Singh Bajwa himself was the minister of PWD, so what did he do for the common people?

Responding to a question regarding the Patiala-Samana-Patdar toll plaza, Kang said that it has received 60 days time from the honorable court. But this does not mean that their looting will continue, they have been sent notices and their security deposits have also been confiscated.

On Bajwa’s comment on Zira Liquor Factory case, Kang said that if he believes that Bhagwant Mann has done wrong by closing the Zira Liquor Factory, then I dare him that if he has the courage, he will say this in front of people of Zira.

He said that till yesterday the Congressmen and Akali were shedding crocodile tears at Zira protest, now they are objecting to the closure of the liquor factory. This shows who is the true well wisher of the people of Punjab. People suffered from the poison of factory for 15 years, no one is bigger than the public in a democracy, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann listened to the public and took a decision in the interest of the public.

Reiterating commitment to work for the welfare of people, Kang said that despite their nefarious alliances and anti-Punjab statements, the Mann government will continue its work. A government elected by the people is answerable only to the people of Punjab and the Constitution. The Supreme Court has also said that the governor should stay away from politics. By following the path of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s constitution, the AAP government is working dedicatedly for public welfare. Party spokesperson Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia, Ahibab Grewal and advocate Ravinder Singh were present in this press conference along with Kang.

Apart from the president and office bearers of various wings, AAP Punjab Secretary Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia and Secretary Shaminder Singh Khinda were also present in this meeting of the organization held today.

Under the main agenda of the meeting, all the wing office bearers were encouraged to bring the pro-people policies of the Aam Aadmi Party government to the common people and implement them at the ground level.

Along with this, discussions were also held on strengthening the organization and drawing up the framework for the upcoming Jalandhar by-election.

In a statement issued by Harchand Singh Barsat, he said that the aim of every wing of the party is to work for the common people and on the basis of this work, they are given positions in the party. He invited the wing presidents to hold meetings at their level also to work for the solution of common people’s issues and strengthening of the organization.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has decided to not increase power tariffs in the state and continued all subsidies. Welcoming this decision of Bhagwant Mann government, AAP leader and party spokesperson Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia termed it as pro-people and pro-Punjab decision. He added that Aam Aadmi Party will live up to its election promise of 300 units free electricity per month soon and with this decision it is clear that AAP government won’t levy any hiked tariffs on exceeded power use from 600 units per bill.

Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia said that since 2002 AAP government is the first government in Punjab who came in power and retained old power tariffs. He said that Bhagwant Mann led AAP government is continuously taking decisions to benefit common people as much as possible and this decision will ensure that the consumers of state will not be burdened with any increase. He added that Punjab government’s decision to continue all electricity related subsidies proved that in AAP government is government of all sections and no one will be burdened with any kind of increased financial load.

He also appreciated AAP Punjab government’s decision to reduce energy charges for consumption of power exceeding the threshold limit and continuation with special night tariff of Rs 4.86 per kVAh. He said that keeping its promise to encourage and to help flourish industry in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann led AAP government accepted their demand to increase the facility hours to use night category electricity by 4 hours rising it from 6am to 10am.

Taking strong cognizance of the complaints received on the number issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to root out corruption in the state, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has issued orders to register a case against a clerk of Tehsil Office Jalandhar. AAP spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang and State Joint Secretary Dr Sunny Ahluwalia informed the press about it in a press conference. AAP leaders said that the Punjab government is continuously taking public-friendly decisions and today Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, making a big change in the formula of pension to the MLAs, announced ‘one MLA one pension’ to cut down multiple pensions of MLAs. Aam Aadmi Party warmly welcomes this commendable decision of Punjab government.

Addressing the journalists during the press conference held at the party headquarters on Friday, Malwinder Singh Kang said that AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had promised the people during the elections that after the formation of AAP government, corruption will be eradicated from the state. Following which, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had issued the Anti-Corruption Action Number on the Shaheedi Diwas. He had appealed to the people to complain about the demand or taking of bribe by the government employees on this number. Kang said that a complaint was received on Anti Corruption Action Number against a clerk of Tehsil Office Jalandhar demanding bribe to get the job done, taking immediate notice of it the Punjab Government has ordered to register a case against the alleged clerk.

Malwinder Kang said that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will not tolerate corruption at any cost and that the corruption run by the alliance of leaders and government employees of the Akali Dal and BJP governments, including the Congress, will be completely eradicated. Curbing corruption in the state will increase the income of the government. Kang said that promising to make Punjab corruption-free, the government has taken the first action today and will continue to take immediate action on such complaints in future also.

On this occasion, Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken a historic decision by making a big change in the formula of pensions being received by MLAs and ministers. Now an MLA will get only one pension. He said that the decision of the Punjab Government was laudable as the people of Punjab had been demanding for a long time to discontinue multiple pensions of MLAs. This decision will save the government about Rs. 80 crore in five years and this money will be spent for public welfare.

Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Health, Public Works and Power Minister Satyendar Jain met traders, businessmen and shopkeepers in Mohali and Kharar, under AAP’s program ‘Meeting with Bussinessmen and Traders’ on Saturday and promised them that after the formation of AAP government in the state, MLAs and government officials won’t create troubles or demand unwarranted free partnerships in their businesses. He said that during his visit in Punjab, after meeting various businessmen and traders, he has realized one thing; that people in Punjab are afraid to start a new business here because of the corrupt politicians who forcefully demand shares in their businesses.

He said that this way they’ll assist the government to increase employment in Punjab.

Answering a query, about governments ignorance towards the basic amenities of mediocre businessmen, Satyendar Jain said that AAP govt is only guilty of one thing; “We provide basic facilities like education and treatment to all, irrespective of their financial status.” He said that we have announced guarantees for the two most important things for everyone; better health and education facilities in Punjab and we’ll extend the benefits to all; poor, rich, middle-class, shopkeepers and traders. He said that education and health of citizens are two prime responsibilities of any government and we are committed to provide every Punjabi with the same set of benefits in these sectors.

Taking a dig at Akali and Congress leaders of state, Satyendar Jain said that AAP MLAs won’t ask for partnership in your businesses and all other official formalities will be made easy for business like we did in Delhi, where such paperwork is done and delivered in just Rs. 50 at your doorstep. He said that businessmen spent their most of the time doing “setting” with various leaders and govt officials to run their business smoothly but we promises you that won’t be an issue after the formation of AAP government in Punjab.
